  1. Bah humbug

    November, it''s November FFS.
  2. Rolex what am I missing?

Don't define yourself by what you don't like mate, what do you like?
  3. Rolex build beautiful watches but their attitude to aftercare service is woeful. Have it serviced by an independent mate and keep the character of the watch intact.
  4. "New" Milsub.

I recently bought the new Helenarou 5517 case set and dial. I built it with a Swiss ETA I had removed from an old rep Omega I no longer wear. Once built, the 5517 was nice, fixed 2mm bars and the crown and guards are pretty nice but it was just way too new looking for a old Milsub, so... It took a bit of a kicking today.
  5. First go at aging, a DRSD.

Thanks for the kind comments, it was coffee on the hands and hour markers and a dip in bleach for the insert. I was really pleased how it turned out.
  6. noobs question about ordering

I wouldn't dream of ordering before asking if the dealer had access to what I want. I've bought reps that were long since thought unobtainable by asking every dealer, It can happen but a lot of luck involved too.
  7. Polishing when under alcoholic influence.

I once tried to do some soldering work when pished, not a great idea.
  8. 13 MilSubs Greedy Bastard

I'm not fussy, any one of those misubs would do me.
  9. BP Sub-C vs. BP Classic Sea Dweller

Sea-dweller, just about the perfect watch.
  10. Had a bit of a crack at aging a Drsd I bought recently. Bleached the insert, aged the dial and hands, softened all the sharp edges of the case and drilled the case to take a Yuki tube and gen crown. Silicone greased all the seals too. I think think the crown guards need a nibble but I'm pretty happy for the cash spent so far. I plan to drill out the spring bar case holes, need to find the right size drill for that and get some 2mm spring bars. Thought somebody might be interested in a pic.
  11. Three old maids - vintage Rolex

Three fine looking watches, just wondered, would the bezel insert of the DRSD be correct for that model?
  12. Dropped my Sea-dweller back in July while on holiday, I was gutted when it started randomly stopping. Found myself at a loose end today and had a rake through my watchbox. I had an old V4 42mm Planet Ocean I never wear. I used this a donor and transplanted the movement. Apart from the date change sticking just a little, it went pretty well. Delighted to have it back up and running.
  13. Opinions please on this Gen Omega

Not for me, I'd rather save for a moonwatch.
  14. While I'm positive its genuine, the position of the HE valve is no guarantee of authenticity, I have an old "closed factory" rep with the HE valve in a similar position. Money well spent mate, get it checked to satisfy your mind then enjoy it, it's gorgeous.
