Tudor black bay pearl replacement

Recommended Posts

splke

now then lovers bit of advice please

I bought a Tudor bb m2m with no pearl and I now have come to fit the new one

I easily took the old shroud out of the bezel insert and cleaned the hole out

New one fits nice and snug but won't stay long less I stick it

Not wanting to get shite all over bezel insert cos I'm a bit kak handed would thread lock hold it ?

Super glue can be messy with any excess showing ! And araldite too .

What do you suggest please ? Thanks in advance

Personally I'd use super glue, but I would then have super glue all over my fingers, the pearl and the watch. I don't think anything lesser would hold it.

Someone may chime in with a better idea, but the pearls I've had to replace or messed with always required glue. It takes just the tiniest amount. Apply with a toothpick or similar.

Superglue

stick a blob on to a bit of cardboard.

Then use a pin/needle to apply it to the inside of the hole in the insert.

That way you don`t risk using too much and having an overspill on the insert.

+1, nothing else will work.

Personally I would use a 2 part epoxy. Many benefits but the key one being its thick enough to not run

Definitely NOT superglue, the risk assessment is too great, it dries far too fast with no room for error, go to wilkies next to the trinity centre and buy their 2 part epoxy, gives you more working time with the same bonding power.

Using the same method as our (my) favourite moderator

Where did you get the pearl from?

Gonna have to agree with the super glue on a toothpick idea, sophisticated.

As above, get some 2 part epoxy and put it on some cardboard, then use a cocktail stick to apply it. Hold down firm for a couple minutes.

I saw this and it might also work for your application:

You use a light to activate the glue. Clean up all the mess before you commit to where you put the glue.

I work with CA (superglue) quite a bit. You just need the right tool for the job. Stick one of these on the end of your bottle and you will have insane amount of control. And you will be able to deploy a micro dot of it:

http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/gpm/gpmgpmr6033.htm

Just google for "CA tip". Also, they make CA with various drying times. Get the longer drying.

And just have some Acetone on hand to clean it up. Wipes the glue right off your fingers and anything else. If you don't know what acetone is, just go get your wife's nail polish remover (it is mostly acetone).

Genius

If you are going to a 2 part epoxy (which is what I would use) don't get the Wilkinsons cheap stuff it's crap. Spend a little bit more and get one that will actually work, it comes with a little tray to mix it in and a spatula to mix with, which is worth the extra money itself IMO
