I actually had this happen a couple of weeks ago, at my hotel in Vegas, was gambling in the casino and went to the toilet, sat down and my watch literally fell into my boxers! It was my Cartier ronde rep, pin had came out somewhere and bracelet just came apart, luckily I had my dj2 upstairs so a quick dash to the room and a swap over! Randomly happened though, easily fixed of course with a new pin but I'm just glad it happened at my hotel!

Pretty normal if you didn't check them upon watch arrival... I have never had a watch I got from any TD with well screwed bracelet and often also the case backs were lose.

Just a couple of weeks ago I started a thread about how difficult it was to get a rep Rubber B strap on my SD4000. After some modding I got it on, pulled on both ends and it was secure... until I sat down and it fell like a sack of potatoes about 1 foot to the tile floor. Broken balance staff. :( I should get it back from the Spa today.

Humidity here in the Midwest causes my wrist to expand, last year to the point where my watch was so tight it popped a spring bar. Luckily I caught the watch.

I have had that happen before and it made me never want a bracelet with screws (gen or rep). Although I realize that pins can come out also it seems that screws are much more likely to have that problem.

That happened to me with a rolex explorer 1 21j cheapy, just ordered a nato strap hopefully that prevents that sort of thing

It happened at least half a dozen times to me. Most recently I was wearing my gen Datejust with president bracelet when I went to pump some gas for my car when the screw near the clasp just came undone and the whole watch just fell onto the concrete resulting in a cracked crystal and numerous scratches. :( Other times the clasp just becomes undone and I find the watch dangling on my shirt sleeve.

Mind you I had my milgauss on a nato strap last summer and snapped a springbar whilst putting my seatbelt on. Had clients in the car so was slightly awkward. There should be a thread here for funny rep stories, I'm sure some there are some belters here!

I lost a rep that way on a motorcycle.......Friggin Harley vibes shook a screw out and down the road it went. did not bother going back. This was years ago when REPS were $100.

Now when I get a rep I put blue Locktite on the screws. EEven my Gen went swimming around in my bed as if came off my wrist. Did the same.

Got a PO shipped to my job and immediately slapped it on the wrist. Walking around the office over a tiled area and, kaboom, bracelet disconnects from watch case (too many pubes caught in there) and watch slams to floor. Pick it up and the 4:00 marker has fallen off and rattling around inside watch. Sent it to katt and came back good as new.

Happened to my cousin, he was riding his motorbike and felt his watch slipping out from under his glove so adjusted the glove and carried on riding.... When he got home the watch had dissapeared from his wrist.

He was wearing a gen 2 tone daytona, so set off back out to try and find it.

He did find some of it but after being repeatedly run over by cars bikes and trucks for a few hours it was totally destroyed....

He now wears a sub and regularly makes sure that the screws are tight

It happened to me when I was selling my DD 2 to a friend. Had sold it to him at a loss as a good gesture (RWG rules also apply to real life  ) and as I was giving the watch to him the bracelet fell apart in his hands and so I ordered a new one from a TD and I'm just waiting for it to get here so I can get rid of the watch.

The Daytona fan in me died after reading that story.

Look.. this problem is a LOT better than the alternative!!!

The watch could have stayed on your arm and your hand could have fallen off.... that would be terrible!

:daffy:

Unfortunately, kosta, YES!! Same problem as yours -- link screw came undone! I've since learned (with help from the great mates here) to tighten ALL the link screws in any rep Rolexes I purchase -- AND to use a drop of Loctite on any that are problematic.

Any watch I get that has link screws gets loctite for this very reason. I use the red stuff, forget the number, but it works well and breaks loose easily when I deliberately unscrew them.

I didn't have this one fall off, but this one time, in band camp... no wait, this one time, at an AD, I was wearing my gen PAM005 and as I took it off to try on a Ulysse Nardin diver, I noticed my buckle screw was almost completely threaded out. Of course the AD brought out a screw driver and happily made it right for me, even though I said i'd do the job. Catastrophe averted.
