My first from "R" Factory........

So after a few months of relatively feverish activity, I decided to take stock and think about my near future collecting /purchasing. Alongside taking in recent developments & building my own knowledge base around the rep world I was also researching vintage watches within the budget a man of relatively modest means like myself could afford. Basically there were 4 or 5 mid range ($300-400) reps that I would like to add to my collection or I could invest that pot as a lump sum into a gen vintage piece. Obviously the money that I could afford does not stretch into gen Sub or Speedmaster Pro territory but I stumbled across the article below which gave me some focus & direction.

http://www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-rolex-oysterdate-precision-6694/

The 6694 represents a great opportunity to get into Rolex without spending the earth, I love the simple aesthetics, uncluttered face & the combination of dial & markers that I was able to find. My research also said that finding a SS steel bracelet piece would be good as I have the option to change it onto leather (a look that I really like) but the bracelets could be expensive in relative terms if purchased seperately.

My watch dates back to 1978 & the hand wind movement is keeping superb time. From the pictures you will see some scratches on the bezel/crystal etc. but I think this is to be expected from a nearly 40 year old watch & one that was purchased towards the lower end of the current prices in the market.

Since I purchased this piece I have been wearing it daily but I'm sure I will go back to the rotation of reps soon, I may consider letting some of them go too. I love being part of this community & I'm pretty sure I will ultimately strike a balance between investing in affordable vintage gens & the reps that I like.

Anyway just wanted to share my latest news, a few shots.......

Congrats, very nice looking piece. What is the size? 34- 36 mm. I bought a similar 36mm DJ when I turned 40.

All of the ones I found are 34mm, that one looks like a 36mm just guessing.

Genius

Been tempted by these a few times and think you found a good un looks practically brand new. Just think at 34 would be too small for me the 36mm datejust is a bit on the small side tbh but just big enough for me to wear regularly any smaller and I think it would be a box Queen

Here's the thing with the size, I will admit I am fairly small in stature & my wrist isn't huge ....however I usually wear 40mm watches TC LV/ND Sub & Milgauss (see pic below) & they do not look oversized but the 6694 is only 34mm!!

I appreciate this is seen as way too small for many people in 2016, but it does wear considerably bigger....

Thanks for all the kind comments, really appreciated.

That's nice, that is! I have two vintage 34mm watches (a Seiko and a JLC) and they wear surprisingly well.

Thanks for thinking of me guys. Some people just aren't ready for the true 1:1 reps.
