PAM experts-tell me about this watch...

Recommended Posts

sammysmiths

I remember buying this watch a few years back. The guy told me it was a special order by some well respected members who wanted a sandwich chocolate dial and titanium case. Its a hand wind movement and hand made Italian leather strap. Can anyone tell me more about it, including case, movement and dial model numbers and where the strap came from? Needs a good clean up but its served me well.

I'm far from an expert, but looks like a 390 dial & handset placed in a 177N series titanium case...

Movement is A6497 manual handwind that would have come in either a 390 or 177, except 390 would have had closed caseback (and polished SS case set)

How does this rate in the rep pam world?

Well... hard to say. The quality looks decent but it's not a watch that Panerai ever made. So if you value accuracy to gen, I would say it rates pretty low. But some people might like it for its uniqueness... who knows.

Yup, not a sandwich dial and harder to sell when it doesn't really have a model number. Its a fantasy watch....those don't always have the greatest re-sale value for whatever reason.

It's a 176 base titanium with sausage dial(it should have a sandwich dial), but the caseback numbering seems to be wrong, they appeared to have stopped making them under the 'J' plate

I think the strap is tan or maybe brown calf assolutamente

No James may be right, it's a cross between a 390 and 176.

176 case and movement, 390 dial, hands and asso strap

On the wrist I doubt you'd get called out on even a fantasy PAM rep unless it was proper looky looky rubbish ha!

Some say ALE can tell the rep model and factory just by the smell as you walk in the room haha

PAM 390 in a PAM177 N-series case. Like you said, it's a custom build.

Hard to tell from the photos but the dial and hands don't look particularly sharp to me. Colours look a bit washed out in comparison to the super rep 390s.

Not sure if this is allowed, but if I were to sell this, what price range would I be looking at?
