Remember those ultra cheap DW dress watches?

You remember, £6 each and came on a red and blue nato strap.

Well, the battery has finally died on one of mine (I brought 3!) and for the life of me I can't get the back off to replace it!

Does it pop off or is it on a thread?

I've tried levering, I've tried a bluetac ball but nothing is shifting it.

Can you help?

Cheers.

Just buy a replacement. The metal is soft as hell, and when I tried, I virtually destroyed the back. Replacements were $3.95 each inc postage.

I asked the same question about a year ago and the backs do pop off. It took a while to get it off but it was Narikaa I think that said get a small screwdriver (flatblade) and small hammer and tap at the crease and it will pop off. Much easier to buy a new one though. :)

Cheers

James.

Ive heard you can recharge the battery by microwaving the watch on low. Try that?

Don't you have to pierce the crystal first before putting it in the microwave?

I don't have a microwave. Would a BBQ work? Gas obviously - you can adjust to a low temperature.

Sorry, I thought it just needed heat. Would an induction hob work?
