Dendo 93 Posted May 9, 2017 Got this new VS Factory PAM213 1950 FlyBack Rattrapante Chronograph with Real Rattrapante movement from TrustyTime. Efficient dealings and all arrived quickly and as promised. PhillyRock made a safari giraffe leather strap for it. Here is the wristie...... Rattrapante (from the French ratrapper - to recover) is called in German a doppelchronograph and is a split second double chronograph movement that would allow you to check lap times of a runner or swimmer without stopping the overall timing. Hitting the pusher at two oclock starts the fun, when the you want a split time you hit the pusher at 8. Pressing the pusher at 8 again allows it to catch up with the overall second hand. Hitting the pusher at two will stop the chronograph, both hands, and hitting the pusher at 4 o'clock returns everything to zero. My video shows this on the rep. Here are some pics of the movement. Modern rattrapante movements are based on an ETA Valjoux 7750. The original movements were made in the 1800s and Patek made the first wrist watch version in the 1920s. Here is the rep with the main second hand (overall timing - has the lume) at 8 o'clock and the split second hand at 2 o'clock (this is the hand that will catch up with the one at 8 o'clock on hitting the pusher at 4 o'clock). GenTLe 1,501 Posted May 9, 2017 I don't specifically go crazy for that watch (I'm a bit bored of Pam shapes), but damn... That movement!!! Add the complication to the new sec at 6 movement in the Portuguese, and get these: Or the Milano Boutique version (and since I spend 8hr a day in Milan, it would be a MUST TO HAVE for me):
MAJ75 922 Posted May 9, 2017 I've never considered that model, I don't like Pams with CGs generally.....but must say your pictures make it look superb. The dial is beautiful & the build quality looks top notch..... Congrats on a great aquisition..............

GenTLe 1,501 Posted May 9, 2017 Unfortunately those Rattrapante watches have the button at the 10 o'clock position whereas the one on the PAM213 is at the 7 o'clock position. Uhm, you're right... But the movement is still feasible: they're both 7750 based, and they have the rattrapante mechanism. They "just" (and these " are quite big) need to reposition the pusher action... The iwc are at 11 but the PAM 213 is at 8. I don't think it would be a big job for the manufacturers to extend to the 8 position If it were, then we would have seen these watches released shortly after the PAM213. Transferring the angled action of the pusher @11 and making it trigger at the movement @7 which is at an angle of 90 degrees offset is not trivial. You can't simply rotate the movement because you would be swapping the positions of the pushers @2 and @ 4. And this is if there were no issues with the Rattrapante movement itself. It's been mentioned that the repair rate at the factory is rather high which is why the factory decided not to continue with the PAM213 beyond its 80 piece initial release (most if not all of which, went to Andrew).. I don't think it would be a big job for the manufacturers to extend to the 8 position it's easier to rep this one : only 3 pushers the one at 2 starts chrono . Another push releases without rattrapante. IF you push the button @ 4 when the chrono is running it stops the chrono (lap time) but time continues to pass. Another push and the hands jumps. subdial at 2 is for 1/10th sec, @6 is current sec, @ 10 is a 12h One thin hands is for chrono secs, and the other for 60min chrono My 1st gen
