Gen movement, rep watch

Recommended Posts

Fg-75

Hello guys,

I have a question that maybe some of can answer

I have a gen rolex datejust 36mm but the case and the strap are not in so good condition, i was wondering if I can buy a rep datejust and put the movement of the gen with the dial inside the rep.

Anyone of you ever tried that?

What model do you have? You may be better off finding a used gen case.

Get it overhauled, you'd be destroying your gen!

I think it largely depends on the make. Rep cases vary due to the different movements stuffed in them. I'm sure some are compatible with the day date movement, but i'm sure others are not. Research is key. The simplest way to go is of course a gen case though. Cheers!

Shouldn't have trouble finding an original case, as those little watches are being bought for their movements and then sold after being stripped. Keep en eye on eBay. But with that said, there's very little that cannot be fixed on a case. What's wrong with the one you have?

If the case is just scratched it only needs polishing, for bracelet a croco-calfstrap or nato-strap will do.

You need to check what movement is inside Your gen. What may be difficult is the stem height. You can check movement dimensions on "Ranfft".

It's an old date just 36mm, the strap is really used, the case has been polished too much so it doesn't look so fine
