Cannon Pinion hole?

Recommended Posts

Any way to close up a cannon pinion hole? Just wondering if there has been any attempt at this before? It's obviously a very minute detail but, would like to know if its ever been done.

Assume you mean squeeze the CP tube so it's tight on the pinion ?

Yes it can be done but you need to be gentle.

Push a needle into the tube first then squeeze gently should give you enough to tighten onto the pinion.

You're confusing me with someone else mate. I don't work on other guy's watches :)

By the way, I'm not sure to get what you are speaking about: is it a 6498 handwind movement and you want to do that in order to have a more stable minute hand?

I did it once, nothing particularly hard to do (for me) but of course it depends from your ability level...

I think he wants to close the hole on top of the cannon pinion, which I don't think it's possible or it would be complex job requiring a bit of modding, but if he means tightening it, it's a relatively easy job but be careful because it's also quite easy to break the pinion.

Maybe the hole in his dial is too big, where the CP and HW pop through?

Ah! That! Never did it. Probably I would try with my electronic welder and some time wire... Just a basic idea.
