NCRich 13,746 Posted June 12, 2017 I got this in the mail a couple days ago and finally opened it. Actually I'm quite shocked. The strap was utter crap, like the kind you burn, but everything else is like something you'd pay $150-200 for normally. I'm not going to post a link to this in GD, VIPs can see it in the Ali/DhGate section. I put it on a Nero strap and it is quite striking. Everything works, its quiet, and the movement is smooth. Pics. Wristie I'm really happy with this. I mean this is lunch money.

SuperbMonster 4 Posted June 12, 2017 $40!!!! That's pretty incredible. Some serious margin being made me thinks. I have visions of TDs rolling around in Bentley's throwing wedges of cash at strippers.
Genius 281 Posted June 12, 2017 Dammit Rich... Was sitting there thinking how much of a bargain my $120 AP diver was and now I feel like I've been robbed this definitely doesn't look a third cheaper
Waspy 306 Posted June 12, 2017 (edited) This is not $40 but it is not far away at $57 25 positive reviews, no negatives: Not sure if I can post links here but if you do a search for this on DHGate: 2016 Luxury Mens Professional 300m James Bond 007 Blue Dial Sapphire Automatic Watch Men's Watches You may well find it. Slink73 6 Posted June 13, 2017 I've read a number of threads explaining why the cost of good reps have gone rapidly up due to the cost price at the factory. I understand we pay premiums through TDs to get assured quality but if you go through DH gate, Weibo Sales, Tencent and many other chinese search engines more and more quality watches are listed in the $40 - $80 range. The rep market is nowhere near as small and specialised as some would say; so I do wonder at which point we realise the rep dealers are driving Bentleys and hanging out in Wanchai off the back of our addiction? And maybe baulk at the price a little more...

And maybe baulk at the price a little more... Eh, don't agree with that really. There are some good deals out there from a combination of a LOT of factors. Clearing out stock, taking less margin to get business, and just a myriad of other things. No one is getting filthy rich, but so what if they did? More power to them. As long as we get our fix for what we think is a good price. I buy WAY, WAY more stuff from Marvellous Replica than from any Dhgate merchant. I do the Dh stuff like I'd put money in a gumball machine. I want to see what I get. The uncertainty is the fun of it. I know when MR sends me something that it is going to be absolutely perfect and that is great. But putting a quarter in a gumball machine and turning the lever to see what you get has a certain twisted appeal.

But putting a quarter in a gumball machine and turning the lever to see what you get has a certain twisted appeal. You are definitely right, it's a crapshoot with many if not all vendors on the likes of DHG as the QC leaves a lot to be desired. And reps will never have the legitimacy required to allow things like open websales with continuity of quality (thats called homage). But these DHG sales are becoming more and more frequent at that low cost because of availability at wholesale of even cheaper commodities. I run my own businesses and I know margins and many would throw up their dinner if they new the 200 -300% markup that still exists in many items. I don't begrudge anyone making their money and buying a Bentley (mental as there are so many better choices for the cash) and like all good addicts I am compelled to continue to buy my product from a dealer I trust. I can't be the only one who questions how reps are now in the $380 - $500 region when in most likely production costs have dropped in the last few years. I also understand it's supply and demand... The demand for those quality reps has never been higher and so they can charge so much more... That JLC is awesome value, I am looking at a 'new factory edition' FF @ $80 on DHG and yet my latest TD buy will be up there at the very top end. I just wondered if others feel the hobby is moving out of the affordable into the expensive arena? And I didn't congrats the OP on a great buy - awesome watch and wear it with a smile... And maybe baulk at the price a little more... Nope. The margins are decent, but nothing like as high as you're imagining. This particular watch, for instance, used to sell at around $150-200 as I recall. The thing is, they didn't sell, so there's a bunch of 'em lying around in a box somewhere. This is not an unusual story - the makers have been producing an ever-widening range of watches over the years and some simply don't sell well. The stuff that ends up sitting around as inventory eventually trickles down to the smaller dealers who knock 'em out at a hefty discount just to clear 'em out. The maker often ends up making a loss on that item, but it's still better than having unsold inventory hanging around. The DHGate dealer gets to make a small margin. Yes, some of the big dealers make a lot of money at this game - but that's due to volume rather than huge markups. Those who deal direct with the factories, obviously, make more as there isn't a wholesaler in the middle of the deal also wanting a slice of the pie. The makers are probably the ones with the biggest margin, but even then, they're not going to be making as much out of each watch as some of the gen manufacturers. By comparison, smaller dealers (most of whom do not deal factory direct but end up purchasing via wholesalers) make a smaller margin - a decent living by Chinese standards, but they ain't going to get rich.
