ElvisFreak 73 Posted June 13, 2017 Have a chance to buy one for about $150US.... The photo I attached if from Google. Its a nice near mint example. The one I have my eyes on has more wear on the bracelet. The thick, heavy head still has most of its plating(maybe all of it)...going from memory right now. A watchmaker shop is selling it so its all in good working order. I searched on ebay and other places and I think the value is a bit overpriced.... chime in guys.... edwinowl 180 Posted June 13, 2017 Difficult to price really unless you can find a comparison. As usual I'd try a lower offer and see if he wants to deal. Certainly a conv piece
Mr Stubbs 0 Posted June 13, 2017 Go for it. The coolness factor is through the roof with this watch. I'd kill for one of these!

Certainly a conv piece after searching on Ebay, its appears others have listed theirs for around $400 (some a tad lower, some a tad higher....)

ElvisFreak 73 Posted June 14, 2017 Reg is right - bargain 1970's kitsch is very collectable and I think that this is a statement piece I hope you guys are being serious cause I don't have a lot of money to throw around but when I saw this watch for the first time, it brought back some nice memories... @53, my high school years were in the 70's and only men with a "good" job would wear something like this, especially the gold one. Most people who did not care to wear "a nice watch" would buy an LED from Woolworths or Kresge (K-Mart) and buy a $2.99 steel LED. aaah...to be a young innocent boy again... My first watch was an LED with a brown plastic case to match the brown leather strap. It may very well have come from Woolworths! My next watch was a Timex 'diver'. My first real watch was a quartz Seiko, which I still own. I've had quite a few since. And I have nearly fifty watches now. But what do I wish for? That old LED. Collectibles like this Bulova are like replicas: It won't have a warranty, and if you can't risk the money, you shouldn't buy it. But it would be great to have. :)
NCRich 13,746 Posted June 14, 2017 Am I the only one that thinks this is hideous? I had a bright orange Ford Pinto in the 70's and I don't want to go back to it or my lime green leisure suit. Buy something, anything, other than this. I'm trying to save you Elvis.

Daffy 105 Posted June 15, 2017 I've always thought about it like this: You have the watch in one of your hands, and $150 in the other. What hand do you put in your pocket, and what gets left on the counter? If you like it, and can afford it, why the hell not?

What hand do you put in your pocket, and what gets left on the counter? If you like it, and can afford it, why the hell not? would be a step up from my first watch I ever bought myself with one of my first paychecks as a young 19 year old sailor in the Navy, some time in the early 80's or so....dont remember too well....bought it at Canadian Tire, never opened it, kept it in a drawer all this time. Mr Stubbs 0 Posted June 15, 2017 Yes! As an aside, I worked at Canadian Tire for two years. One of my best memories of Crappy Tire was a green plastic quartz watch with a yellow dial. For some twisted reason I always loved that watch.
