Markets Raided by the police in china

Recommended Posts

Some may have seen this, but this is for the benefit of those that have not.

In TD's Mary Watches she posted this:

8 AM today

"these days the police are raids the market very strictly. today most of the factories don't release watch in market, the factories will be closed for a few days. now many watches can't be got in market. all the TD will be affected. So your guys don't need to worry if you didn't get update from you TD in time."

So basically it is her way of saying don't panic if you are not hearing from your TD for a little longer than normal.

This police raiding thing seems to be a relatively common occurance, something like 2 or 3 times a yr. It seems to last for a few days and then everything goes back to normal.

Well, if you haven't been in the hobby for more than a year, then all of this may be a jarring surprise. But notice that mostly those who have been here for longer aren't overreacting like the sky is going to come crashing down on them. Police raids are just a show of force, usually accompanied by a state official's visit or a big Chinese holiday. In this case, it is the 20th anniversary of the turnover of Hong Kong to China (this covers a period from 6/28 to 7/2). Some dealers are projecting operations to start to normalize (meaning the factories are open) after July 2 and as most if not all dealers have to get the watches you order from the factory, that is the only time they can get the watches and provide QC pictures to their respective customers for approval.

Seems to be happening more frequently of late. At least reporting here suggests so.
