Posting Images To The Forum: The postimage way

23 posts in this topic

To post an image to the forum (as with most other fora on the web) you will need to host it somewhere. There are many photo hosting sites around - some free, some not - but the following method is by far the simplest:

Visit https://postimage.org/ (signing up for an account is optional, but recommended)

Click "Choose Images" and then select the photo you want to upload.

Once your file has uploaded, take a look at the 'Direct Link line and click the button just to the right - this will copy the URL ready for posting.

Back in your post on the board, simply paste the link between two :img: tags (or click the image insert button and paste into the subsequent dialog)

Job done :D

Thanks to Daffy for making us all aware of this site.

You know of any decent app based ones that work for mobile?

Scratch that postimage works fine through their mobile website, I don't need an app

Yeah, it does work well, doesn't it? :P

If any members have lost their avatar, check this gallery. I grabbed all I could out of the Firefox cache, and rehosted them for you: https://postimg.org/gallery/tkjrnqna/

Indeed it does. Should've posted a sticky about it ages ago - it was photofuckit's latest screwup that got me off my arse to actually post it, though

Yep, skips the step of using manual img tags because they're already there!

Even easier - In your album, hover the cursor over the thumbnail that you want.  A couple of icons appear at the top of the thumbnail.  The left one is Share.  Left click on that and you get a list of urls.  Left click on the icon to the far right of the line labelled Hotlink for Forums.  It will briefly say Copied.  Now paste that into your message on the forum.  You will get the url in the message box, and when you submit the post, it changes to the image.  No need to add anything else.

Works also with Google Drive?

If I post an image from Google Drive (link), will upload the pic to RWG forum?

Has anyone tried it yet?

Thanks, the whole Photobucket thing was driving me insane.

Apparently, for Chrome and Firefox users, you can get a Photobucket Hotlink Fix extension that fixes all the previously hidden images.

I've been trying it and so far so good.

Any word on using Google drive or Dropbox links?  I'm on my girlfriend's iPhone right now or I'd try it.
