Purchasing from ZF (In Time) website

Recommended Posts

karnoculars

Hi everyone,

New member here (first post, in fact). Recently started to get the itch to buy a good quality replica as I've only ever seen or owned poor quality ones. I was looking at ZF and am close to pulling the trigger on the Tudor BB, but I just checked and don't see ZF as a Trusted Dealer here on RWG.

Are they are reputable website? Anyone else purchase from them and have any advice?

Thanks!

Hi - if it's not on here as a TD, beware.

Rules to understand:

1: All dealers have access to all of the same watches. There ain't no exclusives.

2: Pick your dealer first, and your watch second. All you need to do is to send them a picture and let them do the rest.

3: If a dealer isn't a TD here there's (A) a reason and (B) nobody here is gonna help you.

Simple, eh?

Now go read the stickies on how to buy from a TD and come back and ask questions after you do.

ZF is a factory NOT a dealer!

Intime are dealers, but not here. Like Dave says, all dealers can get from all factories, just as a dealer here for it.

Interesting, I didn't know any of this so thanks for the info.

So you would recommend I contact one of the TD's listed and tell them what model I'm looking for? I'll do some reading through the stickies to learn more... thanks!

Side question: what is the resale value on reps like? I know there is a sales section on this forum, any ball park estimate of how much one can generally recoup down the road?

In answer to your “side question”– it depends on a number of factors– the maker/model of the rep (some are in higher demand than others), the age and condition of the watch, whether it’s a “rare” or out of production replica, and whether or not it has any “modifications”, such as the addition of a genuine crystal or crown, or servicing of the movement.

There’s only one “hard rule” here— you don’t sell something for more than you paid, and you cannot recoup previous shipping costs in your price.

Once you have access to member to member sales, it will be clearer very quickly. Until then, avail yourself of the info in the “new member” threads:

Add to the valuable info: it is plenty of factories that actually produces watches. Noob, GF, KW (=V6F), BP, ZF, JF, HF... Some are more specialised in specific brands, some are more generic, but most of them have their jewels. The difficult is to get which is the jewel to get, and in the right version (i.e. Noob Factory Submariner ceramic now it is at version 7 or 8), also considering that not always a newer version is better then a previous one (see again Noob Factory with Blancpain Fifty fathoms v1 and V2 for instance).

I was looking at the list of TD and clicked on Trusty Time. On their website they have the same BB model that I saw on the ZF website for the exact same price of $288. Can I assume this is the same model, and I should just buy from the TD? I would love to support the TD's where possible.

Thanks for the additional info regarding sales. Once I hit my minimum post count (whatever it is), I'll check out the sales forum!

ZF is a maker, not a dealer. They, like the other makers, do not sell direct to the public.

Yes you should buy from the TD - most of them will be able to source that watch for you.

It is like buying a car. You can get the same Audi A5 from any Audi reseller or even from a multi-brand one.
