Cheaper models

Recommended Posts

Rocco_Sifredrik

I was thinking of getting 2 cheaper models of Royal oak with quartz. I can get 2 instead of 1.

Why are they cheaper is it because of the movement or what? Can i expect quality finish on the Product like a 300 dollar piece?

Best regards

The quality of the quartz models generally depends on the model -- some use the same case as the auto, just different dial and mov't, others don't. Unless you research and do work to find out for that particular model, there is no way to know.

Generally speaking, quartz reps have to have different subdials and work differently from then gen, so on top of the tick, tick, ticking, they are going to be poor copies in other ways.

From seeing folks come and go on here, I'd always advise to spend more money and get the higher quality rep -- high quality reps retain value to re-sell, low quality generally don't. And most folks move upstream, not down. So save the time and start with something decent.

Totally agree with LCG!

Get few but get them good. The only time a quartz could be a valid alternative (in my view) is either:

1) when also the gen is a quartz (for instance -> https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/62/ff/c6/62ffc6b7c29c4a4556533cca37dfba8f.jpg but this is expensive too also as rep)

2) when there is no second hand and there is closed case back (for instance -> http://www.tb-688.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=92&product_id=2168 )

Consider that there are few good ones that are cheap and have real mechanical movements (for instance -> http://www.tb-688.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=106&product_id=953 )
