Ream hole after permanent link removal

Recommended Posts

Ok that's a regular drill bit but anyway...

Removed the permanent link pretty easily with side cutters but found the hole was too small for the screw pin. Is this normal? I see the gen guys do this but no mention of having to enlarge the hole after so I think it's a rep thing?

I am new here but I have experimented with bracelets before. I had this same issue when I tried to change clasps on a bracelet.

Things that you could try

Use a different screw if you have any around

Oil the screw

Use a nail files to evenly make the screw smaller(took me 5 hrs but worked in the end).

It you can drill new holes or enlarge them, give it a try but do everything else first.

Thanks mate. I just drilled it out, wasn't too hard. I was just surprised it was needed after reading all those posts in the gen forums and no mention of having to do that. Must be a rep thing.

As a preventative measure to prevent those tiny screws falling out of my Omega's bracelet, I've painted on a drop of woman's clear nail hardener on every screw head.
