Just pulled the trigger on a nice new piece, but decided to spend a bit more and go for the Asian ETA, any tips on how I check that I'm getting an ETA and not something cheaper and less reliable?

WTF is an Asian ETA?  An Asian clone, I understand.  A Swiss ETA, I understand.  But an Asian ETA?

Asian ETA is an m2m term used to mislead the NOOBS into thinking the movement is better than it is. A bit like "gen spec" and "case reshape"

Some are good some are a pain in the ARSE,  ive got one in a 45mm PO, ive had to change a few parts with gen parts most notably setting levers and date mechanism parts, but that's just one movement so don't expect the worse ok.

If it's not a clone ETA then why does it say that, I've paid an extra $110 for it

It's probably an Asian ETA clone 2824...

If it is, you'll be fine!

I would guess it's a 2824 or 2836 clone, rather than the budget movement, the 2813 for that price.

Not ETA, just cloned
