I really worry about some members.

So I list a couple of cheap watches with the very first line of my description being this:

" Up today as a pair (sorry but not worth it to spit em up) "

So what does the first guy to respond PM me?

" How much for newman "

Fuck me why do we bother.

Remember the wise old saying

"I asked for customers, and some fool sent me people!"

Reg you must have the patience of a saint to put up with this on a regular basis, I can barely put up with it once or twice a year.

Yes

Ive just travelled East and dealt with this 'un from two continents:

"Received watch but major problem - crown won't come out and it's not the right time!"

"You do appreciate that it's a Rolex Submariner, & as per the genuine the crown needs to be unscrewed"

"Now it's broken and keeps stopping"

" It is an automatic movement (its winds itself with movement) wind it now with the crown and see the problem disappear"

" Now I can hear a noise inside it"

"That'll be the rotor (that turns and does the winding)"

The trick that long experience teaches is keeping your wrists covered and no razor blades within easy reach

There is a subtle, yet important distinction to be made btw. ignorance and stupidity; the first can (occasionally) be solved by filling in the apparent information gap, whereas the latter is a non-starter alltogether...

Glitter pony tripel style beer. Hits the tongue sweet, finishes the brain for good after 5 pints. New favorite.

As for ignorance. Had a PM offer on a $260 watch for $160. Definitely a head injury in his history.

"Members" is the exact, perfect moniker.

I think one of the best quotes from a member here might be:

"My watches changes the date at noon and not at midnight"...

So as a bit of a follow up after having withdrawn this particular pair of watches as I was going to give em to my Son and a buddy, a member next door contacted me earlier in the week and asked if they were still available, (he had asked questions when the listing was first put up but hadn't responded to my reply at that time).

So after a few back and forth PM's he declared that he'd take it and even gave me all of his postage details and told me that he'd pay via PP later that day.

So 3 or 4 days have passed and once again no payment and no PM's.

Now I know what it's like to get cold feet or simply to realize that you made a mistake and we've all done it but I do believe that some sort of follow up is simply good manners.

Perhaps he's got a legitimate reason and I'm being too harsh.

Oh, but of course I did forget to mention that he has a "new member" status with NO posts even though he's been a member next door since 2016!

Why would I expect anything else?:picard:
