Deepsea Blue: What version is this one?

Recommended Posts

ElvisFreak

I know very little about Deepseas yet they are near the top of the favourites list.

I got this one recently on a trade deal from another forum.  I posted about its movement here so it has a A2813/28kBPH

From the photos, who can tell what I have here. Crap or...?

thanks guys

I don't really know much about Rolex models - would popping the back off and posting a picture of the movement help people here? Or are they the same on all models?

While I can't reliably comment on the model/version, I can say that those hi-beat 2813's are historically problematic (shitty) movements. I would suggest either going with a normal low-beat 2813, or a hi-beat A2824, as both are much more reliable than the movement mentioned.

If you're trying to list it for sale, I would list the model as unknown to be fair to the buyers since nobody can give determine the model.

Also, I don't believe Noob has ever produced models with a hi beat 2813, so this shouldn't be a Noob. If I had to guess, I would say this is likely a cheaper DHGate or budget dealer model from an unknown factory. My reasoning is below:

1. No platinum paint on bezel

2. Seemingly unaligned  cyclops

3. Dial gradient appears to fade too low

4. Deepsea dial text is too light, and almost lime green instead of the darker green on Noob models

5. From what I can see in the picture, the Ring Lock engraved text is too light compared to the bold text found on current Noob models

i took shitty fotos.

its over exposed, the strong light washed out the inner ring print, its actually bold

the watch does not have a cyclops

all the dates are well centered

the bezel is flush with the crystal

the crown screws in super smoothly, without winding the movement, like a good Swiss watch should do.

SEL fit is near perfect

timekeeping: +2/day

lume is strong and lasts for hours

bezel turns crisply with NO play at all

Now matter how many photos you take, no one can answer your question!

Only a photo of the movement could clear any doubts!

Pop the case back with a sticky ball and take some photos!

If you want to put it on M2M Sales Section, you're gonna have to do it anyway:D

BTW, what was the trade value?

I have owned at least 5 Deepseas, back in 2013/14 I got my first one, in the days when the caseback was ONE PIECE...

All the cheapies I owned has many issues and obvious visual flaws and the crystal was always cloudy, has a haze.

The one here has a perfectly clear crystal....

I have Reg's model of this, looks remarkably similar and has same PJ3 stamp on bracelet don't know if that helps identify it.

Ok. It might not be a DHg cheapie, but it's definitely not a Noob.

Maybe @narikaa could chime in?

Back when I bought it, I vaguely recall the seller telling me it's a BP when he bought it in 2016, not sure and I deleted the PMs:angry:

The one thing that confuses me is the use of a hi beat 2813 movement. I know for sure Noob doesn't use those, and I'm not aware of BP or any other well known factory using those, instead offering either a low beat 2813 or the usual A2824.

The dial color still looks washed out compared to what is normally seen and the Deepsea text is still too lime green. With that being said, the date looks correct, and the Ring Lock text does look better in the new picture posted.

I'm equally confused as to the maker of this based on what we see, but my guess is still a lower priced model from an unknown factory.
