I know there were some Russian knockoffs available a while ago. Does anyone know if these are still being sold anywhere?

Well I bit the bullet and just before Xmas I ordered a Hanhart from Moscow watch http://www.moscowwatch.com/index.php?productID=717

I was a bit nervous ordering from Russia but the few references on the internet gave positive reviews so I took a chance and it's paid off - the watch arrived yesterday!

It is very solid and well built; the hands line up perfectly and the chronograph buttons feel crisp and precise. and the bezel is tight but moves very smoothly (no clicks). It has only gained 8 seconds in 18 hours which is more than good enough.

Igor from Moscow watches was great to deal with and I was given a tracking number which allowed me to monitor the watch's progress from the icy North all the way to me Downunder.

At 1/10 of the price of a real German Hanhart equivalent I'm pretty satisfied!

I ordered this one:

A bit expensive as reps go, but it could be argued it's not really a rep. With a manual-wind, very old school movement, it is in some ways more genuine to the original WW2 Luftwaffe fleigerchronographs that Hanhart's and Tutima's modern, ETA powered reproductions.

The background is Russia took (some would say stole) all the plans and equipment to manufacture the Hanhart/Tutima fliegers from the Germans in lieu of war reparations, which laid the foundation for their own watch industry post-war, and to the present-day.

Not at all my style of watch, but that's kinda cool.  The red pusher is almost like something Bremont would do.  Glad it worked out for you, that was quite the gamble you took

Cool watch - Is the red pusher plastic or metal?

Metal - but it has been dipped in something (not painted)

It's nice enough, but it doesn't have history of the Hanhart.
