WatchMe007 0 Posted January 13, 2018 I have a gorgeous IWC FA Jones Portuguese in “platinum” that I love so much I bought it a gen strap. I am sad to say that the hand-wound movement started running more than 5 minutes an hour fast. Any ideas? I really, really, really want to fix it.
BadPickle 2,655 Posted January 13, 2018 This guy has some decent tutorials, failing that, you’ll need a watch repair guy. We have a few in the trusted dealers list here in the forum. For the usa- for the uk/europe
greg_r 78 Posted January 13, 2018 Probably a fouled or magnetised hairspring. Simple job for a watch smith to fix (the 6497 movement is easy to work on). However, try holding face down in one hand and then firmly (but not too violently) slapping it into your other hand. If it is a fouled spring, that may clear it. tickedoff 0 Posted January 13, 2018 I have an IWC Portuguese 5007 , and it runs 15 minutes fast per day. If I wear the watch, it runs perfectly, only when the watch is in its box does it run fast.
