ARF 116520 has wrong Rolex spacing (same as new 116500); best mod is to swap the dial with 23J one

Only the first ARF 116520 had the wrong Rolex spacing. That has been corrected by ARF.

I just received a new corrected version from Toro (made sure in advance I get the corrected new version). I do not know how to upload pictures, but I can tell that  it is exactly the same quality and execution like the ARF 116500.

Frankly, I do not understand either that  92.000 RWG members have let these two Daytonas (THE icon watch per se, which is at the source of the whole rep industry) more or less unnoticed for months and weeks. Several threads in other forums have filled dozens of pages,  and they are full of excitement and praise for these two "must have" models.

Posting pics is not a big deal.. you must post the pics and possibly a review.

Just upload pics on any site like imgur.com and it automatically generates Share links, you just paste it on this forum.

Thanks, that would be very helpful!!

Dial is fixed in 116520.

Ceramic dial has different spacing so it was, and is, correct.

I wish the white gold version will come out soon as well.

You're hoping for a white gold rep?

Thanks. I checked Imgur and it seems straightforward. Pictures of my black dial 116520 will follow very soon.

Here the pictures of my 116520 Daytona from ARF with black dial:

In the first and the last picture you will see for comparison a gen Daytona 116523 (the gen is above, the rep below). The last picture demonstrates that the difference in thickness is almost negligible: I measured 13.05mm for the rep and 12.5mm for the gen with a simple gauge tool. Hence the difference is only about 0.6mm. For me this is acceptable, the difference can only be noticed by direct comparison with the gen.

As is well known, the A4130 movement has a very loud rotor which sometimes rotates for several seconds. A tiny drop of Moebius D5 oil (ebay) eliminated 80% of the noise, and the long-lasting swirling is completely gone.

The movement lags about 3 seconds per day.

The wrong Rolex spacing on the dial of the first batch has been corrected by ARF in the meantime. Ask your TD for the new corrected version in advance.

There is no difference in the SEL fit between the gen and the rep pictured above.

The etched Rolex emblem at 06:00 on the sapphire glass is very hard to locate and to see, exactly like on the gen watch.

I think one of the most important benefits of the ARF Daytona 116520 (same for the ARF 116500) is the gen like 904L steel used by ARF. This makes it more expensive. I do not intend to reopen a long and old discussion about the merits of 904L steel versus 316L and other steels. Only those who have worn an ARF 904L Daytona and compared it to a gen Daytona  are really qualified to judge. The color - and much more important the   f e e I i n g - are identical to the gen Daytona. The bracelet is soft and smooth around the wrist,  like velvet. There is no such feeling with other watches. Even the "click" of the clasp is identical to the gen.

Given the 904L steel gen feeling,  and the fact that after oiling the rotor and giving the standard treatment to the bracelet this watch does not need any further mods, I think that it is not too expensive. On the contrary.  I love mine.

P.S.  When comparing prices at Chrono24.com it is interesting to note that nowadays a new old stock steel bezel 116520 Daytona (discontinued only recently) already costs around 18.000+ USD,  at least as much as the new and hyped up 116500 ceramic Daytona, for which one also has to pay around that amount (which is 50% over MSRP), or one has to wait several years after putting one's name on a waiting list. The Daytona marketing history is repeating itself...

^^ @michel7752

Thanks really for the pictures. The watch looks amazing and I'm debating between white and black dials now. I think 520 is more daily wearer to me compared to 500.
