kilowattore 2 Posted February 13, 2018 (edited) 6152 Radiomir Panerai Pieces of a puzzle This is one of those projects you don't plan, they just happen. For a number of reasons the parts for this build were all in my drawers at the same time, just like pieces of a puzzle. I started taking a part here, a part there and placed them on my desk, looked at them and they fitted together so perfectly that I had to build them into a complete watch. You know how it is The watch is based on Nightwatches old case set, not the one he's currently offering (that build will comebut it's still in progress...). I acquired the case off an HF members, it had been assembled and finished by Gordon himself. As you can imagine I had better left it untouched, but I wanted to give it my personal touch so I disassembled it and reassembled it giving a touch here and there as I was seeing fit. Some special care was given to thecrownguard as it is one of my little obsessions. One very nice touch from Gordon was the slightly yellowed crystal, something I still have issues obtaining in my builds. Incidentally it matches perfectly the colour of the indices... As I said, pieces of a puzzle. Dial comes from Steph_Dexer, it was meant for another build but it looked better here so there it went. I like the fat numbers he engraves on his dials, they are something not easy to find from other sources, although the engraving is not perfectly sharp. All in all a very nice deep black dial with slightly burnt indices which fitted perfectly the lightly aged build I had in mind. Athaya hands are the best to complement the build. In order to keep all together nicely the right strap was needed and, guess what? I had it in my drawer It's a strap from L'invitta Legione, they call it the Emilio Bianchi I think. Three fold construction on the short end, slightly aged light tan colour and pink thread worked very well with the build imho. That's it, a watch that almost built itself out of nothing Hope you enjoyed the reading and pics, see you soon with new projects Edited February 13, 2018 by kilowattore
