Rotor noise

Recommended Posts

OLLO

Hi,

I recently bought two Reps ( a BR 123 Miyota 9015 ),  a Omega Seamaster GMT ( 2836 clone )

and have some 2813 lower quality reps from thailand trips.  The rotor of the 2836 behaves very silent but the 9015 rotates like crazy, you can feel and  hear it very loud : (

About 50 % of my 2813 Reps ( Omega 007 and Rolex Explorer ) have the same problem.

Is there a way to make those watches more silent or dampen the rotor ?

kind regards

Olli

Good question, I have a few reps that seem to autospin the rotor at times (not too noisily) and I can feel the gyroscopic motion on my wrist sometimes.

Looking forward to an expert answer shortly...

The Miyota movements are known with their noisy rotor. You can open the caseback and apply half of a tiny drop of Moebius oil on the rotor bearing. It will reduce the noise.

As for those 2813, they can barely spin by themself. I found that if I apply oil to the rotor bearing, some almost stop spinning at all. You can remove the rotor completely and turn it into a hand-wind.

Do I have to remove the whole rotor bearing and grease every gear or is it just a drop oil on the back of the rotor assembly ?

On my Omega PO and AquaTerra, I had to remove the rotor to have access to the rotor bearing.

I believe on your BR123, you do not have to remove the rotor. You would need to open the caseback, use a needle to pop out the rotor center cover plate, you will see the rotor bearing. You can apply the oil directly to the bearing without removing the rotor. Use Moebius watch oil, DO NOT use bearing grease. If you do not have a oiler, use a needle tp apply tiny drop.

Affirmative, I flew him and his friends a lot out of Rimini to the GPs with a Cessna Citation. He is a nice guy and he likes to party : )

I think those guys are really crazy and I couldn´t watch him on TV without a getting a heart attack ; )

Once we had to stay in Saragossa for some days to wait for him coming out of the hospital.
