Carier Ballon Bleu for man - cheap verses expensive

Recommended Posts

kiril8

I bough one with a rose gold case and a brown leather strap from puretime, everything looked good until I noticed it runs too fast

it gains about 10 sec a day. So they told me to ship it back which would take more than a month (they have a Chinese holiday) or fix it locally.

So I decided to look online for other websites; most trusted dealers sell it for $300 or more.

I found a website that sells the watch for $128 and I wonder what would be the real difference.

here is one from a trusted dealer on this website:

http://www.marvellou...l.php?ProId=201

but on this website there is a bigger variety and they are a lot cheaper too:

there are three options with different movements range from $108 to $138

In the pictures they all look good to me.

You mean other than the fact that the second site is a scammer using gen photos?

Oh boy.... Sigh...

The site you linked is a rip-off. He's using photos of the genuine watch and pretending that it's a rep. Whatever you get (if anything) it will not resemble what you see in the photos.

There's a reason why we're here and why we've gone to the effort of finding dealers that can be trusted. If you want to get what you're paying for, stick to the trusted dealers.

When you'll have 400, not 4 posts - you'll know.

Ok, so how should I fix it?

Could it be just a small tune-up?

what you need to do is buy a screwdriver set, masking tape a small vice to hold the watch in place.Carefully place your watch in the vice. Now hit with hammer very very hard in one action. Then pick up pieces and use masking tape to hold together. This will distract you from the ten seconds it loosing and focus you on how to fix the entire watch...

see constructive solutions are always available on RWG....

Well, if it is magnetized then demagnetizing is your answer.

If you don't have any old style CRT monitor with a built in degauss/demagnetize- function there are electronic

demagnetizers available on eBay.

running +10 seconds a day is a major issue for you? thats pretty damn good IMO. Not worth sending it back or trying to buy another from a non trusted dealer.

Well, a watch that cannot tell time should not cost $320.

I went to a local watchman and he said it wasn't magnitozed he checked it with a compus.

And he would not take the chance to fix it, he said I better send it back to china where they made it...

If 10 seconds a day makes you feel ripped off, take $15 and go buy a quartz timex. You got watch that looks a lot like a $30,000 watch for $300. So what if every week you have to re-set it by 1 whole minute? Replica watch buying may not be a good hobby for you. 10 seconds a day is barely out of range for a genuine watch with an automatic movement.

Is there a way to tune it up so it will move exactly as it should not 10 or 5 seconds fast?

It has 2824-2 movements.

You think it would have been different with a 2892 movement ($200 more expensive)?

Even by swiss standards, 10 seconds is good. COSC is +/- 7 seconds day.

I have Gen's that aren't that accurate. I'd propose you check out the quartz route as suggested by some of the other members.

Contact back the TDs, they usually get it fixed for you if it goes past +/- 7 secs a day
