Re-set of A7750 chrono seconds hand

Recommended Posts

graman

Don't you hate it when someone handles your watch, and does EXACTLY what you've just told them NOT to do?

Have just had this happen.

I said to a friend who just looked at my watch..."Don't re-set the chrono until the seconds hand is between 10 & 2. If it's past that, run it until it's back in the zone.

"Nice watch" I'm told as it's handed back, only to find my chrono seconds hand now re-set at 3 seconds.

I am now officially fucking pissed.

So...Next steps...can't afford a watch smith...I've just spent everything on this watch.

Now have it set at 12 and 1 elapsed minute where it will need to stay for a while.

Has anyone any experience on re-setting the chrono back to 12?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

G.

When ive had to re-set any of my chronos,I pull the crown out like when setting the time and then keep clicking the start button till the second hand is round to twelve and thats it.Every press should move it a few seconds till its back to twelve.

I got that off a thread about looking after chronos but ive not heard about the 10 and 2 thing???

This may be the reset procedure for a quartz chrono only, ive not tried it on a 7750.

this thread on rwg may be helpful to you mate, looks like it is a "take apart job"

Hmmm...do I have the courage to do this?

Col, any ideas on what kind of glue to use?

Also thinking about blu tak as an option so I can continue to service.

Cheers all,

Graman,

I'll give you an idea since it seems to have worked well for me. I have a watch that the minute and second hands are a little loose and have fallen off more than once. I used crystal adhesive and so far, so good. The best thing about it is it's crystal clear, dries fairly slowly, and is very liquid. Just put a very small drop on a hard surface and you can slowly dip the back side of the hand where it fits on the pin into it. It seems pretty easy to control the amount of glue and where it goes. If you have to much just lightly touch the hand on a piece of paper and it will wick off the excess glue.

I have no idea if this is a good idea or not in the long run but so far it's worked well on the 2 hands I've used it on. At least they haven't fallen off again.

Thanks K,

Appreciated. I'm going to have to take the plunge, I think...I just need to source the right glue.

I like the technique.

Cheers mate!

Graman, I use this for virtually everything, precise needle applicator, plus you're helping the forum if you buy it from here...

I agree with Scone on that one. If you get in a bind Super Glue makes a similar glass adhesive that is usually available at local hardware stores or in some drug stores and super markets in the US. Also comes with a precision applicator.
