graman 2 Posted January 21, 2010 Hey guys, Am doing a bit of a quick repair on a watch, replacing movements...one looks a little crappy. They're just cheap quartz miyotas, with a date going into a cheap ass ladies rolex...no biggie..just amusing myself. Have 2 watches to cannibalise....snapped the stem trying to remove the crown on one... Now...I have one left. Any pointers on how to remove the crown without snapping the bejesus out of the stem? Any advice appreciated...especially if it is not "just throw it away". :: Cheers!
trailboss99 988 Posted January 21, 2010 It may not be a screw on crown mate. It may be cinched or glued to the end of the stem. If it wont unscrew by hand while holding on to the stem with a pair of pliers it's prob there to stay. Do not be alarmed tho because the shop has plenty of crowns Miota stems and MVTs as well as whatever batteries you may need. I can prob find both stem and crown around here in the junk box for you anyway. Col.
KBH 7 Posted January 21, 2010 Try heat. If it's glued the heat from a lighter/torch will usually loosen it.
