6497 Problems - help needed

Hi Guys,

So I have these 2 watches. A week after I recieved them, they both stopped.

I could send them back - but it would take forever, so I thought: what the hell... I can fix this myself.

After closer inspection I discover that a screw from the swan neck i gone (red arrow (okay not arrow, but red thing))

this screw was there when I got the watch.

I removed one of the plates (blue circle) and found the screw wedged in there.... The watch however, still don't run.

any suggestions?

This is a long shot but maybe the pressure from the spring being on top of the regulator is causing it. Might try removing the swan neck piece and see if it does anything.

The loose screw underneath the bridge could've easily dislodged the escapewheel or any other of the trainwheels.

Have a look here: http://www.eta.ch/swisslab/6497/6947.html

Did you try loosening the balance assembly screw slightly? It's the single screw at the 11 o'clock position from your red arrow/splodge thing. The balance wheel only requires the slightest of pressure to stop it cycling...

The swan regulator screw may have damaged something while it's been floating around the watch...

Also double check to make sure train wheel bridge (blue circled bridge) is aligned properly after you put it back on.

Good Luck.

good morning, is what the outrigger turns freely?

is what the anchor overbalances well? is what you are able of disassembling the bridge of outrigger and the bridge of anchor (trés delicate)?

is what you know how to disarm the spring?

I pose full of questions but I do not know how to orientate you my English is more than poor, I apologize for it.

is what the clockwork turns freely or at all?

see you soon

Kinky, that's the best solution. Send it to a monkey with a screw loose...(I tried, but couldn't resist!)
