The Top 10 Lies of Replica Watches

Recommended Posts

I've been lurking for a couple years and just now reading the new member stickies. It's amazing how much you don't know even after hanging around here for a bit. Really appreciate the information.

First time hearing about all those lies.

It's funny how things can change within a decade.

The answer to number 9 is kinda iffy,

"(Remember, making replica watches is illegal, even in China. Replica watch "factories" are usually small operations that can be easily moved or hidden from prying authorities.)" never really stood well on its leg when people have shown that factories in Shenzhen just get away with anything.

This is the first thing i read when I found this forum. Some if it i knew but some I was clueless and it helped a lot when looking at movements etc eventually.

Great reading.

To be honest, even the super reps are not so hard to be distinguished from the gen.

I don't care.  I don't buy a watch for how close it is to gen.  I buy it because I like it as it is,  errors, tells, warts and all.  If I don't like the look, it doesn't matter how close to gen it is, I won't buy it.  You could offer me a Submariner rep that was perfection, that the Rolex factory couldn't identify as a fake, and I wouldn't buy it because I don't like the look.  On the other hand, some of my favourites are pure fantasies, that don't exist in the gen world, but I bought because they look good.

Well said mate ! 100 % agree on that, especially on the Submariner. I'm happy to find someone who doesn't like it also, really not my style of watch.

Man I can relate to this list. As an ownder of mostly Gen but a couple scattered reps, I got a mouth bashing from others. No cares. I should send them this.

It's true that the ARF reps use 901L stainless steel though is that right?
