Just used this to correct a problem I had.

The little hacking bit (microscopic piece of brass) broke off and was gumming up the works. I cold not see this until I disassembled the entire area, because it sits on the bottom of the trough! All fixed now!

Thank you!

I have had a problem with 2 movements now, both Seagull ST2130s, where I cant get the stem to go back in. I have done all the above, now the stem will go in but doesn't do anything, it seems to be stuck in the date change position but wont actually change the date. It wont pull out or push in.

Any ideas?? I did make sure the clutch lever was hooked and all the levers in the right position. Grrrr

I'm afraid it's time to strip them back again mate, ive had to order some new Keyless parts for my eta movement as I found some parts on mine were showing signs of wear and my stem would just pull out

Both brand new, so that isn't the problem. Its driving me insane. Time to watch that watch repair guy on YouTube again to see if I can work out what the hell is going on.

Will be trying again later this week when my new screwdrivers turn up, this time I will put the stem in before re-assembly

I got it to the point where it would wind, date set, but then wouldn't wind the hands. Bugger! So close! It was easier to build with the stem in though, so you could make sure it was all in the right place and test it before you put the date wheel back on though.

So I took a break, then went back in again and success. So I just want to say that this tutorial is the dogs bits I'll just add to it that.....

Lessons learnt; 1) rebuild with stem in 2) make sure clutch lever is in the right place on the moving cog, 3) make sure the levers are correctly sitting on the pins for the stem fully-in position, 4) make sure the top plate is in the right position and tightened down correctly, 5) double check it all before you put the date wheel and plate back on 6) you don’t need to take off the other date wheel plate, push it in that side and it will slot into position, 7) when you re-insert the stem, you don’t need to press the button, just turn the stem until it clicks in.

Yes, so many of the older posts are ruined now. I think Photobucket committed suicide, nobody is going to use them again.

How can I see the pics? They seem to be gone. Does anyone else have them saved somewhere?

You won’t find the original photos, but there are plenty of guides on the net.

Thank you so much. Great video.

I’ve just been learning to disassemble/reassemble 2801 from pdfs next door and the next question was going to be where do I find someone good who gets to the point and says which oils where on a 2824. So answer came before the question. Thank you good sir.

Noob question. When he says ‘grease’, what exactly would be suitable?
