AP Forged Carbon / FC Diver review -- $398 TrustyTime version

Recommended Posts

ANDMAN.ELLIPSIS

Great informative detailed review.....

I will work hard and study...... and maybe with enough knowledge one day be able to contribute at a level that will assist others in making their informed choices....

On the detailed posts.... the ones who dissect their watches and mod them.......

Well after 30 years of driving cars... I am no more advanced at finding a dipstick under the bonnet of my car... where I am reliably told the engine is in the front part of the car....!!

Not looking good eh !!!!

Is this a pvd bezel? How does the Fc age? A little worried about durability with non ss reps...

Here are more pics of the bezel, inside and out, it's definitely not FC with the linear grain but I did not find the material in the description.

The stem action still quite iffy and date change intermittently acting up also on mine. Since the FC case quality has improved on newer Noob version (V3 and above), I would definitely consider them as they've been doing movements forever...

I think AP Diver FC will look great with alcantara black strap and yellow double stitching to complement the yellow part on the dial.

Yes, very nice! But imagine how nice would be with Alcantara strap! There is guy on this forum from Moldova that makes these amazing Alcantara straps! I think I am going to order AP Diver FC today! I was thinking of ordering AP Ceramic (with orange part on the dial), but I am going with FC.

FC every day.....it is so close to gen...

The orange one you are talking about sounds like Lava.... if so it´s not ceramic... its PVD coated 316 S steel.......

Have one and its very nice though...

Interesting- a lot of people are saying the V3 is the rep of the year.

Now . . . straps . . . .

Actually the rubber strap that comes with the FC is bloody good, such that I personally wouldn't change it, its way better than most rep straps and I believe close to gen.

Just ordered a V5 stainless steel diver too - looks like I've got the AP bug!

The straps on both are fantastic.... and very close to gen... in look and feel......

Far better than on the RC models... where it looks good but doesn´t feel right when compared to my Gen RC... but a minor issue....

I can only guess but .... Quickdraw may have something like this in mind.....in which case..... also a lovely choice........

I will be getting Jacob to do one just like that on one of my Divers

Each to their own - I personally think that strap, particularly with the yellow stitching, is just too much, but its all down to individual choice. I do think the black textured rubber strap works really well on the FC and imagine it will look equally 'right' on the stainless version, the black contrasting well with the silver colour.

Agreed, can't see anything but rubber working on the FC. My new modded SS 3.5 incoming however is screaming for something in a warm brown, either croc belly or hornback, haven't decided yet.

I agree with you... Sometimes, some places, you've just got to use a rubber, and the FC Diver is one...

:D

I agree as well... rubber is best strap on the FC Diver...... but for me having two of the same watches..... well ...there´s no point....

I´ll have the hornback dble yellow stitch...... and a bit of bling for my second Diver!!!

Hmmm, bling... An iced out bezel or just the markers? Markers might be a nice touch, I am considering this for my Brietling Abyss.

Nope.... just the dbl stitch hornback... that´s more than enough bling for me....

Although I want to get them both AR and WP
