The right tools & equipment really do make things easier. DWO removal tool merged

Sorry to hear this. I hope those knuckle heads sort it out ASAP for you.

Thanks for starting this thread Mick. I enjoy working with my hands and using all sorts of tools, be it modeling, automotive, or around the house. And now thanks to this hobby and RWG, i'll be starting in watch repair. Well hopefully more repair than destruction.

I too purchased the RWG Shop tool kit. Quality tools and TrailBoss is great to do business with.

Good luck on your pkg and let us know how it turns out.

Cheers, red rooster have said to give it seven days, and if its not here, they will replace my entire order of watch stuff, so all good.

As to the gloves, got them from ebay.

Guys, don't forget the RWG shop. Prices are wholesale (we don't make a profit out of it) so you'll generally get much higher quality for your dough than elsewhere.

http://shop.homage-watches-guide.com/

and quality is worth 2 times what you pay ... i have mine for 6months now ! :)

you have some nice hardware mate !!!

are you in paris ? i may want to borow some of your stuff for 10min ... ahahahah !!

Yes, kind of, but mainly for myself, and my watches, but eventually, once I have learned as much as I can, I may even offer some things for members such as Waterproofing etc.

Just an update for both reference, and to ask if anyone has experience in mini Lathe's?

I plan on getting the one below in the New Year...

Hay Micky! Curious, why a metal lathe. Are you planning on making your own watch parts?

Well yes, why not, or to mod, refinish parts/cases etc. I used to love working with a lathe when I was at school in metal class, and this mini lathe is a great chance for me to get back into it, but at the same time, use it to advance my watch hobby. Being able to make my own parts/cases from a chunk of SS would be a lot of fun :)

My Bergeon case back kit arrived today from AceTime..

Not too bad for a cloned set, and they fit perfectly :)

Saw this crap in person, bad fitting, and convinced do not get cheap on tools.

Rep tools is stupid in my book.

Thanks, I don't know about soon. Maybe in a couple of years :)

Mine are pretty good quality for what I paid, and are most certainly not cheap crap, honestly, they fit well, and work as intended. Yes, I agree, there are cheap crap clones out there, but this is pretty impressive for my cherry popping case back tool set mate.

Bergeon made in China....not for me :D

Oh don't get me wrong, I too would always buy proper tools for the job, and not cheap ripoffs. I only purchased this particular set as at the time I wanted to remove the back off a LV Sub that I had with a solid, stuck back. The die fitted like a glove, and with the handle, which has spring loaded ball bearings to lock it into position, it got the back off no problem.

As mentioned earlier, the quality of this set is quite impressive. It even crossed my mind if they accidentally sent me a gen kit, its that detailed, and well finished.

Not really a lot just yet, but purchased a watch case holder, and a set of Rolex case opening tools from Ace Timer in the US.

Next up I will be getting the RWG tool kit, but alas, I have to wait until Trailboss is back on the 18th :)

I noticed that Ace Timer has some nice reasonable priced watch cases too.

They have a superb track record on their ebay account, and upon following a link to their actual webshop, I managed to save almost 20 bucks :)

Anyone else purchased from them?

I've bought both a 20 watch vertical case from them from my pre-rep days and a winder (which I leave off). Both are great, but the winder stands out. The fit and finish are absolutely top notch. Definitely buy from Acetimer. I'd recommend buying directly from their website since their prices on eBAY are higher to offset the fees.

Had some time this morning, so fitted my baby vice to one of my work benches. Due to the fixing jaw not opening enough (5mm) I had to chisel some wood out the lower part of the bench to get it located properly. All good now, and nice and firm.
