Suggestions on a omega ploprof?

Recommended Posts

Watchlover1996

So I've decided to make a good investment into a omega ploprof with the eta of course but also saw that the one I was going to buy from trusty had the bezel lock function also? Could anyone tell me if they have this watch and if so let me know if there are any problems they've had with the locking function?

You can ask Andrew for the information.

The bezel lock is to make it more gen looking.

The lower versions don't have this and no one notices .

Who would have a feel of someone's ploprof to see if the bezel locks?

Best of luck.

My advice:

Do NOT spend a lot of money on this model...I had been wanting one for @ 30 years, ever since I sat at the table next to J. Cousteau at a restaurant in Westport Ct. , and he was wearing the prototype..

When thay finally came out as reps, I bought one immediately....I wore it steadily for @ 3 months..NOBODY EVER gave even the tiniest shit what movement it contained, or what the orange button was for, and, being both somewhat ugly, and unwieldy to wear, even I, perhaps the original "Plopper joneser" quit wearing it on a regular basis..

This is not a replica that you'll stay in love with for long...

My advice would be almost completely opposite to the above. Buy it, care not though what other people think because you're buying watches for the wrong reasons if you do, but IMO this is a watch to love because it's so unique.

+1 to the above.

I am sure the gen is quite comfortable for it's intended purpose ... submerged in water and used as a diver.

Since it is designed to be worn in water I wouldn't expect it to be especially comfortable for wrist time out of the water.

Something that is cumbersome or heavy on land could be quite light and comfy in the water.

Get it tested if you intend to wear it in water since you don't know if it will be waterproof.

Buy what you like, but check with the dealer for the specifics of the watch you want to purchase.

All the best

I have to disagree with Aren. You would never think of this watch being comfortable judging by its shape and size, but I must say it's one of the most comfortable watches I've ever owned. It amazes me still and I love it and wear it almost every day. My wrist is 18,5 cm and it fits like a glove. One was stolen from my appartment last february and I just had to order another one. I have an asian ETA version ( V2 ) and it's perfect. I would never spend a dollar on a "Swiss" version, because you won't actually get Swiss movement, that's money right out the window. The one thing I have noticed is that the lume was a bit more intense on my old one, don't understand how that's possible. Anyway, get one, you won't regret it, Toro sells them for 328$ plus shipping. Here's mine:

Agreed , the V2 Asian ETA is the one to get. It is surprisingly comfortable for its size, and I have not had a problem with mine since I received it 2 years ago.

Had a gen for a couple of years and loved it. Sold it and bought a DSSD.

I had been here for approx 1 week and bought one M2M that had been modded by Kenny for £400 and love it, it is not a daily beater but great for certain occasions. I ditched the ss strap and put the Orange rubber back on. Great watch IMO but defo not everyone's cup of tea.

KeNnY (written this way) is one of our forum guys, from Slovakia, and he has great skills in lume jobs that he also offers to our members.

Lol. The previous phrase sounds really weird... :D

The Version"1.5" is decent too, and the bezel lume is vastly superior to the V.2 model...

I bought one a few months ago from M2M.

It has a swiss movement, supposedly a v2 version.

The bezel is modded. I am not sure what the stock came with.

Here is the watch:

Bezel is rotate-able by pressing the orange button.

My advice is to give this watch a try.

It feels great on wrist. And one of the most iconic watch design.
