OMG   A sensible new member.  Seeing a post like this is as rare as finding a BMW with working indicators.  Welcome to the madhouse.

I have heard the bulbs are too expensive to replace? Thanks you for the welcome.

Hello, folks.

I'm a regular on other forums, brand new to this one.

Just getting into watches and a friend recommended this forum to me.

Finances don't permit the purchase of genuine classics at this time... But I appreciate design and quality as much as the next man.

Randall

Yet another transplant. Like the clean look and GUI of RWG!

Looking forward to it.

Thanks!

Thanks for the welcome. I know I know... In my defence, I'm not much of a chatter by nature, and at 46 being a single father of a 7yo boy with a busy private forensic practice, I don't have a lot of time for much else. That being said,  I've been meaning to donate to the forum for all the time I'm spending here. Before doing so I felt compelled to post a hello and a thank you.

God Bless sir, got to raise those kids right. What sort of forensics do you do? Sounds pretty CSIy! ;-)

Magnetic forensics - basically investigation of digital media used in the commision of a crime. Find, preserve, document and ultimately testify in court as an expert witness. I love the work but am retiring in a year or so after 15 years on the clock (pun). More time with the kido and slow things down for as long as possible. :)

Sounds like it's not limited to the magnetic discs of drives anymore?

When I started it was hard disc drives and floppy drives. Now it's everything, including mobile phones, cameras, smart watches, gaming consoles, etc. Even had a case where a usb dildo was thought to have "sensitive" information. haha... no I didn't have to touch the nasty thing. Just goes to show the depth (dare I use that word) of what is subject to potential examination.

Sorry guys if i'm posting this in the wrong place, but i'm a first time buyer and i have been interested in purchasing a cheaper starter watch to get my feet wet, possibly a Rolex. I have a question i can not seem to get answered in a forum, which is the best payment method? I do not like Paypal seeing as they want my SSN, Drivers license and a copy of a bill statement saying i am who i am. That being said should i use a prepaid gift card or what? id appreciate any answer regarding this.

Not the right place you're right.

You can use Western Union with any of the Trusted Dealer listed on this board, you won't have any problem with it (avoid WU with non trusted people in general). With WU you often get a small discount from the TD.

As we grow, there are all kinds of questions that the noobs seem to ask. Instead of one of us trying to search our way through all the pertinent threads and posting them in the shoutbox, I figured I would start a thread and include all the basic info a noob needs to read. This will be a sticky and therefore quick to find and post so that all are in one place.

You have a watch or you have QC pics or your watch ?
For image hosting, use imgur.com

You'll have to.  M2M will open in a couple of months and after a year or so of quality posts, you'll be allowed to sell your discard.

So I've been on here for a little while browsing and commenting, I saw it says I need to have 6 posts before I am granted the privilege of using M2M sales, ive tried to find this but I can't. I want to try getting a used watch before I jump to making a full on new purchase. How do I go about accessing it
