Side by Side : Noob v4 Sub and Gen

Recommended Posts

smalla

Hi,

i just got this in from toro , it is the Swiss NOOB V4 black sub

I did a nice fotoshoot to compare it to the gen watch (same lighting, same camera)

first of:

- rep is very good

- nice build quality

- good look and feel

- everything seems about right

- the new bezel mechanism is very close to the gen (gen clicks are a bit higher)

- the bracelet is very nice

- the new pearl finish is excellent

- very good lume, same as gen no difference to tell when in dark (exact colour)

- date change is ok (at 5 min to 12, so bit early)

- the new rolex engraving on the chrystal, is nearly invisible (maybe even less than on gen, so very very good) you cannot see it without a magnifying glass and the right angle

- weight is exactly same as gen with same bracelet size (withing 1 gramm)

Differences:

- the dial markers of the gen seem to be a bit bigger, i think not really the diameter but the white gold edge is thinner

- the chrystall is slighty higher on the rep, maybe it is possible to push it in a litle more, but i will not try that

- the rehault engravings on gen a a bit crisper

- al the rolex logo's on the gen have bigger "balls" (but then againg compared to gen GMT it was about the same, so i guess depends where gen dial comes from

- the waterproof 300m on rep no spacing between 300m on gen 300 m (but also here compared to another gen it was the same so i guess rolex uses different versions of dial as wel

a very nice watch in my opnion, not cheap but if you see them side by side, hard to call out the 7000 euro difference ;-)

nice job noob fact!!! and thanks to toro!!`

here are the pictures...

if you see 2 watches the GEN is on the right

if you see 1 watch the rep is the ons with the "spare" link

let me know what you think!!

Thanks for the comparison man. That is a seriously good rep! Even with the gen right next to it, it's hard to see the differences. Well done

Damn close are they not!! I little bit of finish work on the bezel (depth of paint), some finish work on the crown as well. No one really could distinguish.

Very nice rep. As a matter of fact about the crystal situation it is a very easy fix. I had the same issue with a watch i had. All you would need is knowledge on how to pull the bezel off and if you can find a forum or a HOW TO.. then you can adjust the way the crystal sits easily.

Love the pics! Smalla, just want to congratulate you on reviewing a new Sub with so many avid Rollie fans here (next door at RWI they did a "best sub shoot out" over a year ago that I think ran to nearly 100 pics). Two of our rep makers (BK and TC) have dedicated years to making a near perfect rep of this. I'm so intimidated by the devotees I wouldn't have had the stones!

One detail I think Noob doesn't get perfect in most of their reps is the serif, font, font width, size and raised look of the genuine datewheel (DW). I wonder if you think they have improved this or whether it could be improved with a TC DW overlay V3?

Rolex use at least 3 different dial makers as far as I'm aware.

This v4 is a beauty and might be just what the doctor ordered! :D
