My 1000th post & a trio of vintage delights

Recommended Posts

StormyNight

Caution: This thread contains your recommend daily minimum allowance of RAG (Rolex Addict Goodness)

Recently got my RA5512 back from J-J and I can see it being on my wrist for a long time!

The other two can take a back seat for now.

I should mention a huge thank you to my friend Pseudonym for helping me out over the last few weeks, and sorting out a little issue I had with the 5512; he's the one I have to thank for keeping me "hanging in" and keeping my interest just about with watches. I think now I've got this one modded and fixed up I'll be sticking around. Cheers Rob mate, you're a great guy!

So here's to the next 1000 posts of drivel. :D

The other two pieces of RA Goodness are a "Great White" Seadweller that I picked up off Baxter and a 5517 MilSub from an M2M trade (I can't remember who with sorry!)

Highly recommend that if you have a Rolex you want "vintagising" (As seems to be a word and trend!) then get in touch with Rolex Addict. He's an Artist!

Congrats Vic, was never a big Rolex fan until I saw yours, I now have a 5517 that will be getting the RA treatment in due course. Just researching if any bits and pieces should be replaced with more accurate after-market components, or just to leave it as stock, get it vintagised and enjoy.

Vic, have you got any tips for actually getting JJ to respond to you? I emailed several times and PM'd several times over the course of a few months about my 5513 and was very disappointed to have no response whatsoever! I eventually just gave up coz it was a bit of a joke?!?

If we're turning this into a vintage Rolex porn thread I'll throw in my 5513 gilt dial (ended up doing it without RA obviously). It's going off to Matej for lume but I've used ArtStudio to add some lume to the shot so you can see how it will look!

You have probably seen most of these from me, but I had a major problem with my photobucket so most of these pictures aren't up on here anymore.

I got mine from TT. Everyone else couldn't source it at the time, so maybe try him. Bear in mind it's fixed bars as discussed in your DIY thread. Look forward to seeing what you put up for sale.

Andrew is my regular TD mate..

Just need to decide which one (or two) watches I want to sell (I like them all) in order to fund the latest purchases.

It's all Stormy's fault, starting this thread....

Biggest "issue" for me with a rep MilSub is getting the seconds hand correct! Almost every one you'll see has it wrong and the "arrowhead" of the hand sweeps over the seconds stick markers on the dial.

Mine doesn't. I don't know if that's something Rolex Addict did or if it was an exceptional base watch...

It Was the base watch, I knocked back one in QC before this one - didn't notice the HEV valve though but jj sorted that out!

Some absolutely beautiful pieces posted here that completely put my trio to shame! I think I need another vintage Daytona and I DEFINITELY need to send my 1675 Pepsi GMT to France for some treatment!

As for getting RA to reply to emails? I've heard a few people "complain" of issues with that now but I can only speak from personal experience of course! I know he's been having problems with internet and/or his PC (Can't remember which he said!) but I always have had responses within a day or two at most.

He must like girls more than guys ;)

Thanks for that! The HE valve, in fact, everything on that watch is cracking! I'm going to put it on a different strap soon though. Not a fan of the leather NATO...
