Distinct 0 Posted October 10, 2012 My Breitling Blacksteel chrono hand dials stopped working. This after accepting living with the stripped crown and tube that no longer screw down. I am so pissed and angry. I'm not looking for refunds or a return, just angry with the fact I spent all the money to buy some ultimate version and then money on an awesome strap from Serge and the damn thing turns out to be a shitty faux chrono (which isn't even set at 12:00). It's a gorgeous heavy ass paperweight. All show and no go. I questioned myself before buying this on staying away from chrono. All the watches I had before were not chrono. Fanciest movement was the modded GMT Master (which also just stopped working). I'm having a bad watch day. Rant over.
jacobarch 0 Posted October 10, 2012 hey. cheer up. I'm taking my chrono to my local watch smith. Im gonna see what he can do about fixing the crown tube problem I'm having as well. So sit tight, Im taking it to him this weekend to see what my options are. He's always honest with me and he's not afraid to mod something to get it to work. P.s. I've also contacted every TD and asked them if they can get a crown and tube. For some reason no one can get shit.

Let me know how it goes. I'm thinking about throwing this off a roof and filming it for YouTube or selling it here as "buy a Serge D strap, get a free strap connector." Balad1 0 Posted October 10, 2012 STOP: Do not jump off a fucking bridge Bro! Send the rep to Chris at 10:10 Watch Repair and he'll sort it out for you. PS: I've got an ultimate BR chrono with Swiss movement that I need to send him too. :(
robznet 0 Posted October 10, 2012 That's just bad luck mate, as they say shit happens, but it always happens to the ones you like best. Hope you get it sorted buddy.
Hazz 0 Posted October 10, 2012 I had the same problem with my crown not catching. I took the crown and stem off and used a hex key to reshape the tube, all is OK now, can't do any more harm to try. Get one that fits in tight and turn a few times to get the tube circular again.

PS: I've got an ultimate BR chrono with Swiss movement that I need to send him too. :( already talked to chris about it. We're kind both up shit creek with out a paddle. He can't really do much because TD's don't have any spare parts it seems and Breitling doesn't sell stuff to the public. Found a couple crown n tubes on the bay but can't be sure they are correct sizes because they are your every day joe selling them.

Yeah, some gen Breit are available as parts, but they're sold by case number so it's hard to tell what exactly is correct. The gen parts won't fit, so it requires modding the case to make it work. When it's an unknown mod like that, it's tough to take responsibility for someone's watch.
Luthier 1 Posted October 10, 2012 Mate, you didn't know, that you buying 21j, not a real chrono mov't??? Next time buy the watch with A7750, it will work for a long time. Sorry to hear your story anyway.
Del 4,984 Posted October 10, 2012 Total bummer mate. Wish I had some words of wisdom but if Chris says he can't do anything then I guess that's pretty much the end of it. :(
Distinct 0 Posted October 10, 2012 Mate, you didn't know, that you buying 21j, not a real chrono mov't??? Next time buy the watch with A7750, it will work for a long time. Sorry to hear your story anyway. I did get Asian 7750, I'm joking that now the chrono don't work anymore, it is just like the 21J. Stupid chrono worked for like 4 weeks. 1 of the weeks I did not wear it because I was getting the new strap. Had this watch died on me in a year or two, I would not have been so pissed. The normal minute and hour hand still works, the running seconds at 9:00 still works. Just the big chrono hand is frozen now. None of the pushers do anything. Actually, the chrono pusher at 2:00 starts and stops the entire watch now! When I push it, the running seconds at 9:00 stops. When I push it again, the watch resumes moving. Distinct 0 Posted October 10, 2012 I just managed to zero out the chrono had back to 12:00 through complete ignorance and desperation. I watched the action of the chrono pushers and saw that there's some lever at the reset pusher that is not moving properly or releasing in both ways. Using my Specialized Extension Chrono Extension Reset Tool (my fingernail), I targeted key identified areas of the movement (trial and error) and then I heard a click. I turned the watch over and the chrono hand was back to 12:00! The damn thing still doesn't work properly and only gives the appearance of it accuracy. I will have to keep opening the caseback everytime I forget or accidentally press the chrono pusher. If some co-worker or Friend fiddles with the damn watch I will be so angry all over again. Sitting at my desk grumbling and trying to open the watch with a stapler.

Bobbylah 144 Posted October 10, 2012 Just out of interest, is this a Brietling chrono rep issue, A7750 issue or just bad luck? Reason I am asking is that I am considering an SA and do not need it to shit the bed just after getting it.
