Day-date platinum 228206, textured ice blue. Noob questions!

Anybody seen a good rep of this? There seem to be plenty on TD sites. I'm a 100% noob but I was thinking of taking the plunge with this at AOO Time

What say you? Seems to me it would be low profile on the street but also v rewarding to look at, assuming it's vaguely similar to a real one. I'm a bit worried that the texture of the face would look all wrong and the bezel and crystal would be scratched to buggery within a week. Would it be possible to buy and fit a genuine bezel and crystal if that happens?

And I would much rather swap the bracelet for an oyster one - is that an easy thing for a TD?

I'm not a fan but each to their own.

Low profile on the street? A platinum day-date?

Not sure of what streets you roam mate lol

I agree with TomTom. A bright blue dial on a Daydate will stand out more than other models... not that this is a bad thing. I actually really like this version, but I think it would be a "loud" watch to wear.

To answer your questions I can't see why you wouldn't be able to swap in gen bezel and crystal but i personally wouldn't bother, I also believe most TDs would swap the bracelet over for you :)

Isn't the gen bezel also platinum?

I suppose it would have to be - so I imagine the price would be four figures. I suppose Rolex have a steel one as well.

I wrote a review of this rep back in the day.

Photobucket has hijacked the pics but you can see them when you right-click over the photo and "copy and paste image address".

I'll fix those photos soon.

It's a very small watch. My wife posed with it and it looked good on a small woman. Not for bigger man's wrist, imho.

Beautiful watch...but only the 40 mm for me. I'd have no complaints if it looked as good as your 36 mm.

Ah yes of course. You're looking for the 40mm. I didn't realize that.

That might be nice. I should check it out too.

Why would the bezel and crystal get all scratched up in a week...?

I'm just being pessimistic about the quality...I've not bought a rep before. If I bought this one I'd wear it most of the time.

Well, you'd then be REALLY surprised about their quality (speaking about those in the 300$ range).

Aside from not being platinum, this watch will look like the gen to 99% of the world.....the differences would only be noticeable side-by-side under close inspection....

They're pretty gen-like, except for the weight. The dial looks stunning though

It's fine. The only thing you need to consider is NOOB: better day font. BP: better AR on cyclops, stick markers are bigger than gen.

Also, this ain't low key. The ONLY variant this dial comes in is platinum so yeah, not low key. It's like getting the chocolate bezel/blue dial Daytona.

Left is BP. Right is NOOB.

NOOB costs more. Also, don't bother with the clone Rolex movement, just do Asian ETA.

Great comparison shot, cheers for posting it.

Out of the two, which feels higher quality?  IIRC my 41mm DDII was Noob - it feels solid!

From a build, both are same enough there's no winner for me.
