A short review and some questions for you (TAG Calibre 1887)

Hello,

Recently received my Rep TAG Heuer Calibre 1887 SS Black from Mary so thought I would do a quick review but also ask some questions about how I can resolve some minor issues.

Firstly, I'm not very experience in this rep-game so I don't even know where to start with the review. I'll show a few pictures first and then just list out my points:

- Overall I am impressed with the quality. The casing finish is nicely polished and the band has the brushed steel which provides a nice contrast.

- Took me 10 minutes to work out the chrono functions (and why the normal second hand wasn't moving! - it's the stopwatch!) but has worked seamlessly since I've put it on.

- I expressed my concern to Mary and she didn't seem too worried, but I still think the Tag logo is slightly angled clockwise instead of being perfectly straight. But I'm sure only I will notice that.

- The automatic movement is quite noisy when moving your wrist around. Almost like a slight grinding/winding noise as the weight spins around. Not a bad thing, just more noticeable than my previous reps.

Now to the issues:

1. The edges of the case are rough where it meets the band, and there are already scratch marks appearing on the band from the rough edge. You can see the photos here: 2zLIxDF.png ItIHlPd.png

2. The stopwatch button is quite hard to push and has a very strong clicking action when pushing down. Is this normal? Will it 'soften' over time? 2M08UbX.png

3. The band is too long and I don't have the tools to get the pins out. I tried pushing them out with a thumbtack but couldn't do it. Is it worth taking it to a shop/repairer to shorten it for me?

Overall I'm still very happy and impressed with the quality. I just hope it can stand the test of time by getting 5+ years out of it.

A watch shop can easily adjust the band. That shouldn't be a problem at all.

Hi Mate

Congrats on a nice watch. I recently received the same Tag with a blue face from Toro

I didn't notice the Tag logo being slightly off until you mentioned it but it is slightly off. Personally that doesn't worry me

The chrono feature works but like with all reps it's more for show. Many threads here in the forum about reps blowing up after members have left the chrono running. I used to once to check it worked & haven't touched it since

Don't take the watch to a watch repair shop unless you want to pay $20+. You can get a link remover from eBay for $2 that does the job & it's easy to do

Enjoy your Tag & wear in good health

Mine says hello

Thank u for your review.

it is not a big problem. when your next order, i can get first endlink for u, u can change it.

2. The stopwatch button is quite hard to push and has a very strong clicking action when pushing down. Is this normal? Will it 'soften' over time? 2M08UbX.png

it is just a little hard to press the button. it is helpful for the water-proof function. because there is a O-ring around the button tip.

3. The band is too long and I don't have the tools to get the pins out. I tried pushing them out with a thumbtack but couldn't do it. Is it worth taking it to a shop/repairer to shorten it for me?

No need. u can buy a tool in Aus to shorten it very easily.
