NCRich 13,744 Posted February 24, 2017 I had Marvellous Replica add one of these to my last order. They are pretty cheap and fun to work on. Been trying to do one of all they offer. This was the explorer dial. Similar to the other ones, replacing the plexi with a T-21, drilling the lugs, brass bezel, and add chamfers. This is a pretty cool big crown. BM284 1,518 Posted February 24, 2017 Looks very nice Rich, I like the explorer dial subs. I think the brassing adds that extra subtle touch

RussP 22,106 Posted March 1, 2017 I think (my opinion only) that grey and black Nato really shows it off best.
MAJ75 922 Posted March 1, 2017 I think (my opinion only) that grey and black Nato really shows it off best. I'm with you 100% Russ, when I saw the photos it was the first time I have ever preferred a nato over a bracelet on any watch..... Something about that combo that really makes it sing.............. Diver Dave 0 Posted April 4, 2017 Very nice. Clark for the T21? Fitment OK? Dave
NCRich 13,744 Posted April 4, 2017 Very nice. Clark for the T21? Fitment OK? Dave Yes I used a Clark. It fits fine, but nothing like a gen plexi would. The case and bezel construction are completely different. You glue it in.

BTW, I have waterproofing test equipment if you (or anyone else for that matter) want a watch tested. You might already have one, but the offer stands. NCRich 13,744 Posted April 8, 2017 Thanks for the offer. I usually use hypo cement. I think the factory uses some form of superglue. I usually have to break out the factory plexis. I just can't get them out whole. They are crap anyway, but I rather not have to break them out. I think that the gorilla superglue would make the seal quite watertite. Hypo cement is the old way, but as you say... So you're punching them out with a crystal press (and breaking them), and then gluing. Makes sense. The diameter of the Clark stuff fitting OK? Or needing edge-turning? Be interesting if you want to just try a case with your crystal installation done, with back, and crown installed, for waterproofing. If you want to lend one for a day I'll do a chamber run on it and post photos of the results. My guess is that many reps really are OK for waterproofing, and we just don't trust them. Just because of my maritime lifestyle this was the most worrisome part of retiring my 1665 for daily use and wearing a rep, and in my case the rep I bought was waterproof right outta the box. There's no reason a glued in crystal wouldn't be perfectly fine shallow, but as the glue is a rigid compound and the actual acrylic crystals flex under pressure, I'd like to see if that flexation causes the glue to crack and then the case to leak at some depth. If that depth is 10 feet that's one thing, and if it's at 300 feet it's another. An experiment is in order if you want to collaborate. Dave .
