A7750 Schumacher 12 o'clock chrono problemo

Recommended Posts

Hey RWG,

I received my Schumacher back yesterday after having some modifications done. The 12:00 dial is stuck at 7.

I ran the chrono for about 30 minutes, then reset. No luck.

Then I left chrono on overnight; so it'd pass the 12 marker. Still no luck.

Any advice?

The modder opted for me to send it back to him so he could take a look. But I just got it back after a long 2 weeks. Watch is brand new, so I'm hoping I can handle it. Any insight would be appreciated.

Here's the watch, chrono running

For the record, the 12:00 dial will move as time passes. But zero's out back at the 7 mark

That's the running second dial, nothing to share with the chronographic functions. That subdial should run always, if the watch is running, regardless the status of the chronograph.

If the watch works but that hand is stopped it means that something went wrong between the 4th wheel of the main gear train (those gears present in all mechanical watches), that makes the 7750 to have running seconds at 9, and the modified/added gears to transfer the subdial from 9 to 12.

Definitively not a simple task if the modified gears went wrong. But maybe the added gear on top on 4th gear pinion just detached or became loose, so it may be fixable.

Ah ok, so you mean that the hour counter at 6 resets at 7 instead at 0/12.

Well if it is always like that, you just need someone to take out the hand and put it back in the right position :)

thank you very much for being so informative and kind.

yeah it keeps resetting back at 7. Makes perfect sense to just move that hand. I'll have to ship it back since...I obviously am incompetent with watches.

I really appreciate your response.
