Tropical 1665 DRSD with refinished gen dial

First of all, I want to thank NCRich for doing the work on this watch. This poor man ran into issue after issue with this build. The dial was thicker than the case was made for. The stem and keyless works were an unending headache for him, having to rebuild the latter many, many times due to stem position with the crown and tube. In all, he had this watch for 2 months or so, working on it periodically during that time and taking needed breaks. I think he probably cursed more in the last two months over this watch than all the others he's ever worked on. I'm very grateful for his time and dedication for putting this build together. Thank you, Rich. The end product is a work of art due to your endless efforts.

This watch started off as a 2836 "Cartel" model from MR. Rich came to notice that this watch was not the typical Cartel model, it didn't accept parts such as the tube or the dial without some sort of modification.

A2836 supposed Cartel 1665 DRSD

Tonnywatches refinished dial on a gen Singer plate (Rich had to move the dial feet to fit the 2836)

Matching hands for the Tonnywatches dial

Athaya tube and crown

Reworked case to chamfer the edges and lug holes drilled to accept 2mm spring bars

Drilled endlinks to allow the 2mm bars to pass through

Thinned crown guards to mimic the era's DRSD shape

Ghosted bezel insert

Almost made me quit messin' with watches. Never had any damn thing fight so hard against me. You forgot that the sec hand was superglued to the pinion on the original movement. I'll tell you what though, this is one of the best looking ones I've seen. One of my pics.

nice watch & amazing Dial..

but IMHO if you change the insert with another red/tropical /faded,  is the best color combination
