HWG 11 Posted July 24, 2012 This is a copy and paste from McNairs old section, but I thought it should be reposted in a more visible spot. (especially because I just recenly needed this tutorial) Some of you may encounter a chrono on a quartz that when stopped, and reset, does not go to the "12" or off position. This could be because a hand has moved on it's stem, or a multitude of other reasons. Today I had this very problem on a watch I was working on for a fellow member here. So, what to do? It's quite simple actually: Step 1: pull crown to the "quickset" position, some may need to be unscrewed or simply pulled depending upon your application. Step 2: press the "start" button for the chrono, likely, nothing wil happen. Step 3: press the "stop"button of the chrono (9 out of 10 watches have this button at the 2 o'clock position, your application may vary say, if you have a Graham and there is a lever that acts as the "start/stop" button. Step 4: press the start/stop button as many times as it takes to put the large hand at 12. This could be as little as one, or as many as 59 times, since the hand will jump in 1 sec intervals. Step 5: once the hand is at 12, press the RESET button. Nothing will happen visually, but this will "program" that position as "home" once reset during normal use. Step 6: press the crown in and test your chrono. If you have a screw down crown, I suggest screwing it in, as we want the watch to function as it should, and often times a screw down crown on a QUARTZ mvmnt will not be fully "in" unless screwed tight

gt rider 0 Posted October 15, 2012 What is the «quickset positions»? After unscrewing my crown there seem to be 3 positions. 1= nothing 2=date change 3=time change.

ringobingo 1 Posted April 29, 2015 Brilliant advice. I have a gen Victorinox quartz chrono that I love, and one day the chrono resting position started being one second past 12 o clock for reasons that are beyond me. Your advice has it back to perfect. Thanks!
