Refurbish my TAG Aquaracer Chrono

Recommended Posts

After 11 years it was time to refresh my genTAG. The bracelet was beaten up. So as i am waiting for my TC Sub V6 i had to find something to pass the time. So i started to fresh the look of my TAG. I didn't shoot any pics before the procedure.

I used a spring bar tool to take the bracelet out. A 1500 sandpaper, scotch brite 3M and wd40.

I sandpaper the spots with the deep scratches. Then used the scotch brite in even and oneway passes. Then after i was pleased with the result i sprayed with wd40 and let the bracelet soak. Then wipe with toilet paper. Then i did the case the same way. The result was fantastic. Thats why i prefer brushed bracelets. So much easier to treat scratches.

Thanks Gazzla. Too bad i did not take pics before the procedure. It is hell of a difference. Almost brand new.

Nice job with simple tools, I like that and a nice Aquaracer. Somehow I always prefer the TAGs with the red/green logo.

Thank you a lot. All done with simple house tools. That is why i prefer brushed bracelets. I do prefer TAGs also with the red/green logo, witch is the classic emblem of the watch. Well if you ask me know, that i earned some knowledge, i would not buy a TAG as a gen. The only sure is that i would prefer an automatic watch. In my opinion a good watch has to be automatic... You would not by a manual transmission Mercedes Benz now days, would you?
