Hello all.

I actually joined a week or two ago, but got absorbed reading the various threads!

Fascinating stuff here, which has reignited a smouldering interested in watches that has been there from an early age. I don't pretend to know a fraction of what some of you know, nor may I be as discerning in my choices at times. If I like a watch, I buy it.

I have been in debate with myself constantly about the whole Rep thing, and I am still not fully settled with buying reps. Its not so much about other people being able to tell, but about the overall quality and perceived "value" to me.

Years ago in my experience, Reps were pretty awful, and stood out like a sore thumb when worn. But things have moved on, and some of the Reps available today are incredible. What has drawn me back to them is the quality, not only in the ability to copy, but in the craftsmanship and movements that are used. There seems a drive with some factories to mimic every aspect of an original within reason, which is what has got me interested again.

A £300 or £400 replica watch in my world is still a valuable timepiece deserving of care and attention, and also emotional attachment. I feel a nice balance is a few genuine luxury watches, a few hand picked Reps for fun and some genuine but mass market dailies that for whatever reason tickle my fancy :-) (as you can see below)

I currently own a Tag Heuer Carrera 2010 Calibre 16 which is my most expensive (and enjoyed) original, and have a real admiration for Tag Heuer design. I could never afford the more exotic genuine Tags, but the Carrera Calibre 16, and indeed the 36 etc are stylistically the watches I am most often drawn to.

To that end, I also own a lovely Grand Carrera Mercedes Benz SLS special edition Rep that I bought recently in Dubai, and I am awaiting a Carrera Calibre 36 Rep from Perfect Clones as we speak.

I hope to add a Breitling and Roly over the coming months.

My other watches that I cherish (not due to value, as they are not expensive) include 2 Jaques Lemans Chronos and a lesser collection of Sekonda, Yema and Seiko Chronos and traditional watches. In other words, about 12 that I would never part with for various reasons (some of little value) , and another half dozen or so that aren't expensive nor particularly loved at this time.

The gap in the case photo below is awaiting the PC Calibre36 due over the next few days. :-)

Welcome sir. The more time you spend here the more you'll diversify your collection. I would've never thought I'd buy an AP, and yet I own an AP Survivor.

Thanks Guys. Thats what I am afraid of phone, this could end up costing me a pretty penny!

I've enjoyed reading here the last few weeks, I had no idea there was so much to the replica world, and indeed so much exotica out there in general nowadays.

From a Rep viewpoint, I wish I had have bought a few more out in Dubai as the ones I viewed seemed well made and were a great price. Dragon Mall, just outside of the city if anyone is out there!

However, I like the idea of taking my time over a purchase, and using the trusted providers here seems a good way of doing that.

I'll post up again shortly when my Tag arrives from PC, but its been a promising experience so far.
