agrimtex 0 Posted August 5, 2015 (edited) Standard length for the Santos 100 is 115mm and this is the size that is always in stock at AD when ordering a new strap, but I have learned that there are two lengths available at Cartier stores for some colors (regular size and small size). That beeing said, I have decided to order new shoes for the santos from one of the trusted strap makers but I do not know the exact size of the smaller version of santos XL strap or the strap lenght that would best fit my wrist ? Thx Edited August 5, 2015 by agrimtex
agrimtex 0 Posted August 5, 2015 To better understand the issue, I invit you to read the second post of this blog : http://www.georgecramer.com/tag/santos-100/
Kcore 0 Posted August 6, 2015 Sorry, but I don't get it. All Santos reps come with the two sided adjustable deployant buckle, not the single as discussed in the blog. Your rep came with a strap and this buckle. Does your rep Santos fit and is it comfortable? I'm not asking about the quality and feel of the rep strap's leather. We all know it's cat hide. How does it fit & feel after adjusted to your liking? If it feels good, just let the strap maker know your wrist size, if you like to wear your watch tight or loose, high on wrist or low and he'll suggest a proper strap length. For me the million dollar question is, which one of our strap makers is making custom straps for the Santos? We all know the Santos uses a very special lug end insert to give it it's seamless fit & look. Last I knew, none of the strap makers on RWG were making these. I have a Santos and I looked and asked every maker that advertised on all forums. There was only one guy that made the Santos strap and he was and still builds a top quality gen quality Santos strap. That's HK Tan who's on RWI. Aaron requires you to provide him with a donor strap that he cuts the lug end inserts out of to use in the new strap. Here's an example of a beautiful black croc hornback. I've circled the area of the strap to better view the lug end insert.

Kcore 0 Posted August 6, 2015 What do you think about Jacobstraps ? He is located in spain so the delay and shipment would be faster ... The better question you should be asking is, can Jacobstraps make a proper strap for the Santos with correct lug ends?

Kcore 0 Posted August 6, 2015 Looks the part, very nice. Yes, HK Tan also requires a doner strap for the lug end inserts. I bought a cheapy off eBay and sent that. It's good for our members to know that there's another strap maker willing to do a proper Santos strap. Finding a Santos strap maker other than Aaron was as rare as Hen's Teeth! The only other choice was buying Cartier gen and that's an expensive $400 option. If you have jacobstrap make your strap, please come back a post a review with pics! Lots will be interested. I just sent him an email to confirm about the size. I wonder if i can send him the lug ends while he is on holiday (by registered carrier) ?
HeavyKrush 16 Posted August 9, 2015 (edited) Would also appreciate a review once the strap arrives. As K pointed out, always good to have another option on the Santos strap. Edited August 9, 2015 by HeavyKrush

I will suggest that you send him the entire doner strap and not just the lug end inserts. I'd let the strap maker remove the inserts and anything else he needs. He's the pro and why chance not cutting out the inserts correctly and have your strap delayed or not properly made. Just my opinion though.

Yes, the rep strap that comes with the Santos is fine to use as the donor.

Cartier like to make things difficult, or maintain an exclusive appearance in their products. I had this same problem having a strap made for my Cartier Ballon Bleu. It has a special "notched" design at the lugs. On the Santos however, I infinitely prefer the ss or tt bracelet with deployant. It's more uncommon, but much more stylish in my opinion. RussP 22,220 Posted September 5, 2015 There also appear(s) to be a few (rep) strap makers that cater for the special lug ends on the Santos models and incorporate them into their straps. EBay has a few as does Ali. The problem is the sellers that tend to use stock pictures..........from the manufacturers' web site. The Jacobs one looks really nice. I for one, look forward to a review with lots of pics.
