LightGeek 25 Posted February 13, 2013 Link: http://vintagewatchparts.co.uk/index.php?id=108 It's probably been posted before but not finding it from the Tapatalk search. Going to try this tonight.
LightGeek 25 Posted February 13, 2013 Did it and the lever action is much better/stiffer now. Took the liberty to sand down the lever a bit so it sits more flush. Whatever you do, don't lose that tiny o-ring sitting in the lever. I lost 5 minutes of my life trying to find it in high pile carpet.
dmpmassive 0 Posted February 13, 2013 Nice. I had to do this on an older style CG lever a while back. No O-ring in the one I did. Cheapy glue gun couldn't heat the whole thing up enough after applying the glue. I ended up using the desoldering head on my soldering station set to 800deg... Worked like a charm! Much better after the fix. Later on I replaced the stem on the same watch and cut it a titch longer. The extra pressure one the CG lever in the down position from the longer stem provided a more positive "snap" when closing it. In retrospect, I wonder if all that was needed was a stem length adjustment?

12lurk 0 Posted February 13, 2013 Is there a way to make the stem a tad longer without replacing the whole crown?
dmpmassive 0 Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) Is there a way to make the stem a tad longer without replacing the whole crown? In my situation the stem had come loose which is what lead me down that path. After sizing up what length the step should be, I realized that the reason the crown was loose on the stem what that it was only held by about 1-1/2 turns of thread... So from the start I had a crown that could easily unscrew from the stem thread. I ordered new stems from the RWG shop (6497 movement) and another set from eBay (postal racing whichever arrives first wins... Trailboss won ) Cut the stem close to about the correct length but a bit longer than needed with a dremel. Then, back and forth with crown, dremel tool and CG installed to get it to the exact correct length. Once it was the perfect length with lots of thread-turns, Blue Loctite. Leave it set for a day.
