Can anyone guess what my new tool is for (just for fun)

MDK

Been waiting for this to arrive for a little while now, a new tool that should allow for better consistency and accuracy with my straps

This is a clone from China, the genuine item is around £450, AAA+++ copy here 1:1; gotta love China they copy everything.

Leatherworker should know this and appreciate its worth.

Anyone else guess what ist for:

It does indeed, lose a fingertip quite easily.

Tried it on some croc offcuts and it's not bad; there is a bit of play in the head that I will sort out; the links for the adjusting screw have some wobble and allow the cutting head to shift should be easy enough to fix.

Although it doesn't actually make too much impact, it seems the "Even" cut is down to how you draw the leather through.

I paid £90 for mine, I can live with a little play for that money, as I say should be pretty easy to sort out; I will add some thin bushings to the linkage...

Wish i'd kept all my late dad's leather tools. Wasn't that much into watches when he passed so got rid of all his stuff. He used to work at a tannery and would bring home off cuts and the like which he'd make into all sorts of stuff like holsters for my toy guns, belts, purses and bags for relatives and friends just for something to do. I'm sure he had one of these too.

Its a bit hit and miss with Caiman, granted they are pretty boney, when it hits a tougher bit from a deposit it seems to drag itself towards the top of the skin, it has cut through a couple of test pieces.

Will try some croc, that should be better not quite as tough
