It is strange that someone would make a Rep watch when there is Gen of it...

I don't believe that a gen of the SS version exists.

Unless it's so new that Rolex haven't advertised it yet ^_^

Except I want a black face...

I wonder if there is anyway to put this bezel insert in a Sub?

I see.. so maybe some day. I still wonder why they Rep companies would make something that doesn't exist.

I wonder if that Bezel insert would fit a Sub or Sub no date. I have been trying to find info on Bezel sizes, but it is a little confusing.

I also wonder if Crystal is the same size as a sub date. One thing that keeps me from buying a Rep Sub date is the crystal. I might buy one and buy a GEN crystal for it. But after seeing this watch, I wonder if a Gen sub date crystal will fit in it.

So basically I think there is 2 ways to achieve a similar looking watch, This Rep with Gen crystal (providing I can figure out what one fits) ir a Gen Sub with this Bezel. Anyone have any idea if any of these parts are interchangeable?

Rep buyers range in degree of obsession from 'I don't care if the gen never came in pink diamonds!' to 'the gen doesn't make that sound when you wind it!'

I'm near the middle but the watch you linked to hits all the right buttons for me. I wouldn't buy a YM rep in gold because I don't care for gold watches.

But now that I know there's an SS/matte black rep version, this is the one I'd buy. Even if there is no gen.

It is funny to see PC say Correct 1-1 Size as Genuine for a nonexistent gen. :P

I think I am going to buy it too. I see 2 versions of it. One for around $250 and the other for around $400. I see they have 2 different movements, but I wonder if there is any other differences between them. If they are the same, may I buy the less expensive one and if I like it have a good movement put in it. From the way they are listed, it is hard for me to tell. I think there must be some naming convention for these. I did notice the one that stat with "NF" for noob factory abd the ones that start with BP, but some I can't figure out.

You can't put a different movement in a watch, not easily: hands will not fit, dial feet will be in different positions, the hole for the stem is at different height etc.

I have read on here that people have switched from a cheap movement to a swiss ETA. That is why I thought a different movement could be put it. So of I buy the cheaper Rep I cannot put the movement in from the more expensive Rep or a different movement in?

Asian ETA clone to Swiss ETA is feasible. Z2 POS to Swiss ETA 2824 is also feasible.

21j to ETA isn't, and the low cost ones have 21j.

The Asian ETA clones aren't low cost.

That makes complete sense, now I understand. So you have to start with the same style movement if you are going to change it latter. Thank you for the info- it is veryt helpful.

As stated above it is a fantasy model, rumors are it might come out in Basel 2017, but no guarantee on that

I notice that your current collection includes Basel 2016 Rolex Daydate 40 ref 228238 Yellow Gold and Basel 2016 Rolex Day date 40 RG BP factory.

Maybe we should buy the 2017 Basel watches now while they're just rumors. :P

I like this one better than the RG gen version.

That said, you could 'build' a gen one like that with a gen YM, source a gen black dial, the insert from the RG version and BAM...

That is what I was thinking. But after a lot of reading I don't think it is that easy. The RG YM case is different, the bars that hold the oysterflex bracelet on are close to the body and the body has a grove in it for the band. Not sure where I saw it, bit it was in a post somewhere. After looking at pictures of Reps I noticed that some were like the RGYM amd some were not. So I think I am going to buy a Rep and make a Franken out of it. Now my only question is what movement needs to be in it to make good Franken. I read that Y3135 is a good movement, but the SA3135 is a bad one. I think to make a Franken I need to buy a rep with one of these 3135 clone movements, not sure. I still have a lot of reading to do on it.

These guys make Gen Customs. Take a look for inspiration. I love the Military Models!

Do anybody know if you can put the black Bezel from a YM onto a sub or maybe a Black Sub Dial onto a Ym?

From all the research I have done, I do not believe so, at least not just the Bezel insert into the Sub Rotating Bezel. I was think that maybe it would be possible (I have no idea) to take the entire Bezel assemble from a YM and put it on a Sub or Sub No Date. The sub with the YM all black raised number bezel and the YM oysterflex bracelet would be my idea watch.
