“Far out in the uncharted backwaters of the unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the Galaxy lies a small unregarded yellow sun. Orbiting this at a distance of roughly ninety-two million miles is an utterly insignificant little blue green planet whose ape-descended life forms are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea.”

Strictly speaking you do not HAVE to read all 5 books in the 'ever so increasingly inapproprately named trilogy'...I read'em as a teen and watched the (then) fantastic BBC-series...I still have his complete wörx sitting at my shelf staring @ me right now...hmnnnn....?

Kind off fear a revisit will not quite match up to the memories of my hysterical laughs.

The original BBC-series was what started it all, and despite a meagre budget and getting prematurely slaughtered it remains cult...at least to me...:)

Did anyone watch the Dirk Gently TV series (great books) with Stephen Mangan in? That wasn't half bad either. There's one on Netflix at the moment too - I've only watched a couple of episodes but it's pretty good.

I listened to the original radio series (that started it all) again recently. I damn near wet myself - still as funny as ever.

I stand corrected, Greg...cuz you're right: the radio series preceded the televised iteration...which preceded the books. Anyway; Thanks for setting me straight. And for gently 'nudging' me into maybe revisiting the DA-universe.

PS: Thank god I'm harmless. Mostly.

Read them - the TV series entertaining, but isn't in the same league as the books (or, for that matter the H2G2 TV series).
